Merrill says GM bankruptcy "not impossible": Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

didn't the gov't just step in and save them last year?

the buisness model is bunk. let them die. they don't make a damn thing good anyway, and everyone keeps getting laid off anyway... might as well just close shop already.

if i have to pay part of that 15bln out of my tax money, i'm going to burn down a gm dealership. lol for real though, WTF. PRIVATE SECTOR how is that so hard to understand?

Remember B... regulating them is socialist and marxist, but giving them taxpayer handouts (READ: JP AND BEAR STEARNS) is good gov't business.

Neoconned again.

I'll get the torches, you get the pitchforks. It's gonna be a fun night!

To simply answer your question, yes. Then from the losses saved by letting them fail free K-swaps for everybody! :D

GM is a symbolic thing. There is nothing more "American" than GM. Seeing GM go would just destroy the economic moral of most of the country. Personally, I'm rooting for them

what happened to american pie????

and besides, toyota and hundai are FAR more american now a days. more parts are built here, and more are assembeled here than GM and ford combined. To say they are 'american' is a joke. unless of course, if you think mexico is america too...

+1

My car says "Made in USA", and it's a Honda.

:werd:

I wouldn't lose any sleep if GM went under...

well the way I see it if gm goes under thats how many people out of work, what atleast 30,000 employees. Jobs are hard to come by now. personally I dont care for any domestic vehicles but we need them to keep the economy afloat. like stated above its a stature thing if they go the rest of the worlds going think wtf is wrong with America

On the one hand I agree that bailouts are shit; but on the other, in the short run, if they fail, the economy will be hurt tremendously, and many people will be out of jobs.

GM didn't care about that when they shipped jobs to Mexico, now did they?

Aren't many people already out of jobs(lay offs)?

If they sold a better product, this wouldn't be an issue. Main thing I see them advertise is "This is American" or something like that.

Also, where I work at(Caterpillar), many of the steel and iron parts come from Mexico.

Reminds me of the lady that had a sticker saying something to the effect of "Don't put a support the troops sticker on your foreign car!"... on the back of a V6 Vue.

Just goes to show that if you wrap it in a flag, certain demographics will buy it hook, line and sinker.

Screw the employees, they've been on the gravy train for far too long. They can join the rest of the non-unionized workforce in the US that actually have to get an education and work hard to make decent money.

Perhaps Honda, Toyota, and Nissan can build some new plants and offer them jobs? :D

Some dickhead in one of those actually gave me shit for driving foreign the other day at a stop light. I told him that his shit is powered by Honda and he said "what the fuck ever, you wish!"

Jobs are not finite. Also jobs are not intrinsically good. We do NOT need domestic vehicles to keep the economy afloat. If Gm can't compete and market forces drive them out, pull the plug. It's like keeping a decapitated person on life support.

People will think wtf is wrong with America? Like they don't already?

They already have and they will continue to do so as long as states offer huge tax incentives to them. +1 for telling it like it is.
