well when it comes to home computers i have no clue about them, my comp keeps flashing low to no memory and my comp is slow now. what do i need to delete to get things back to normal and to have more memory. as far as i can remember i only have like 3 videos and lots of pictures.

ok it says 901 mhz and 256 ram

1. delete all the useless shit in the tray
2. open run menu and type msconfig and then go to the startup tab and uncheck anything that looks unfamiliar or that you don't want to run when you boot up
3. go to add/remove programs in the control panel and delete any useless shit that you dont need anymore or dont use
4. download some free spyware program (i suggest ad-aware) and run it
5. defrag your hdd (start > all programs > accessories > system tools > diskeeper disk defragmenter)
6. reboot.

when you say in my tray do you mean like just anything on my comp i dont use

you don't want a lot of icons sitting in the "tray," the small box next to the clock in the lower right screen... they just eat up your memory and for the most part are useless. try to right click each icon and see if there is an exit or quit option and try to remove as many as possible

ok i got rid of a few things there but there is some there that wont go away like its the things thats telling me my memory is to low and avg that wont run because of to low of memory

you probably have some spyware thats eating your memory... try those 6 things and if that doesn't work you probably have to reformat

i agree with devit start deleteing all the programs you dont use anymore and the games you dont play so on an so forth if you have alot of songs on your computer it will slow it way down too

you could try disk cleanup which should clear all caches as well. as for ram, 256MB is barely enough to scrape by these days.
:shrug2:

thanks guys, im defraging right now if the 6 steps dont help ill just get another comp ugh lol

xubuntu... from the specs on that thing, i doubt you do much more than surf the net and other simple things, right?
http://xubuntu.org/

other than that, you could always pick up a copy of one of those "lite" versions of XP. I always see them on Demonoid. that may be an option if you want to stick w/ windows.
