I did search this up. and no one really answers the question i want to ask. but. for stock d15b pistons. where do most of you get your rings from? some people "think" that z6 piston rings should work. but no one really knows. I ordered d15b7 rings. and nope. they didnt fit for nothing. not even close to fitting the top and second compression rings. so tomorrow the z6 rings should be in. but if they dont fit and i dont want to keep doing trial and errors. being florida doesnt have a "JDM-R-US" I also know that the z6 has the same P08 piston code. not really sure. but if i remember correctly.

so if im wrong on any of this. correct me. and guide me to the correct answer.

All D-Series engines have 75mm bores. You need a ring spreader to get the rings on properly, they're supposed to be hard to get on.
i know that all the piston bore's are the same. i wasnt sure if there was a diffrence in size of the top and second compression ring. nor the fact their suppose to be hard to put in.

yeah thats what i figured. i saw P08 piston codes on my z6 when i replaced the head gasket. so. im only thinking that since the D15b has a P08 piston code. it SHOULD work. but. like some one told me a long time ago. "honda's are picky"

im not exactly sure what pistons the z6 had in it. started off as P something. when i pull the z6 out ill snap pics and what not. seeing as the z6 may need to be rebuilt.

All of the codes start with P(P08, P29, P06, P07, PM6, etc. etc.).

I believe you're suppose to get them for the Z1, which should be the same as the Y-series. They're thinner, :)

yeah. the z6 rings are still too thick. if i managed to squeeze the z6 rings into the P08 pistons. they'll be too tight to move around and what not. i know the rings should have play in them. when on the piston but not in the block.

so Z1 eh? i ll give it a try. or just get z6 pistons and install them into the D15b.

Z6 pistons won't work in a D15B VTEC; unless you get custom shorter rods or stack some head gaskets.

Just ask for rings for a D15Z1...VX engine.

well now heres the thing I already had pistons for a D15B7 block and it turned out those felt too big. so traded them in for the Z6 rings. so today i went back and checked out the rings for the Z1. same rings that are used for the d15b7 block. -_-

Where are you getting the parts from? I know Advance Auto likes to keep bad information; I've had about 5 incidents where I had to figure out which one to get due to them listing it wrong.

The Z1 is supposed to use thinner rings(IIRC the top ring is 1mm vs. 1.2mm on the other ones). I guess just go ahead and get the Y-series ones.

that might be my first problem. advance auto.

should of went to NAPA.

and yeah it does feel as if both compression rings are just slight too big. as if it'll be a tight fit. so. i ll just take back the rings, get my money and order the NPR rings.

yes you need the rings from a z1.. they are thinner. i ran into this with mine. i figured that all d series where the same, but are not.. the d15b rings are slightly thinner.. So i took my z6 rings back and got the z1's and fit like a glove.

yeah but heres the catch. at advance. the z1 and b7 rings. are both the same numbers. sooo. advance auto doesnt see the diffrent in pistons i guess. and i had already ordered the b7 rings before. only to run into the same problem as the z6 rings. so im just going to take back the z6 rings and get the NRP z1 rings. get rid of the whole what fits what now that ive gotten feedback of what fits and that advance just sucks when it comes to getting rings for you engine.

You can tell them; or try to figure it out. They've given me the wrong gaskets all the time. Just a couple weeks ago I ordered a throttle body gasket from them, a DX one for a B7. Before I even ordered it, I looked at a picture they had and said "That looks like a CX one man, I think I might just order a Z6 since it's the same," "well our system has that as the DX one, it should fit your car since it's a 1.5l," Well, I thought he switch the PN's and went ahead and ordered it....

Nope, got a small-ass CX gasket. Had to order again and this time just said I had a 1.6l Z6. They assume all 1.5ls are the same and 1.6ls are the same. Even when I tried to order a B16 exhaust manifold gasket(for a 99-00 Si), they gave me a D16Y8 one.

yeah like i said. just taking the rings back. ordering the NPR. get rid of all the hassle and stress.
