93 Coupe
of buying a prelude

I currently have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee which is a gasssss guzller !!!! [ V8 ].I am selling to to my sister so once that is out of the way I want to get a 98-2000 honda prelude,I love the way they look, and I like the way they drive, only test drove 1 but I like it.Does anyone have any input about these cars ?? as far as stock power ?? and if there great cars to own ?? :D

its a honda,,and your on a honda website...what do you think our reacion is going to be???:D

the apreludes are good cars, and have decent power
just the h23's are a liyyle sketchy with breaking internally

I know its a honda forum, thats why I asked for input about them lol, some people will talk differently about them then others, also

I want to add that it will be a DD,auto, but has Sequential SportShift [girlfriend wants to drive it] and also a family car,the jeep is way to much on gas and a 4 cylinder is great for me and the family to go on trips lol.

All Preludes from the 97-01 body style have H22s actually. They discontinued the non-VTEC H23 once the 4th-gen body style ended.

Honestly, I hate it when people say shit like this: "I gots to get an automatic cuz my girlfriend/mom/aunt/sister/grandma wants to drive that shit yo!"

Don't be a damn pussy, it's your car. If you're truly ok with an automatic and that's what you want, then fine, but if you'd rather be driving a five speed then get a damn five speed. This is the car that you're going to be driving for the foreseeable future, so you might as well get the the exact model you want. If your girlfriend isn't willing to learn, then screw it, she doesn't drive it.

And how do you figure a Prelude is going to make a good family car? It's a two door coupe, not especially good for backseat passengers or children. I'd probably look into a nice V6 Accord if you're looking for a family car with a decent amount of horsepower and decent gas mileage...

I allready have a jeep as a family car, want to get rid of the $100 a week gas prices, that's why im selling it to my sister, and my girl allready has a v6 accord, that were selling,we both agreed on a prelude, and im going to stick with auto because I don't see the need to have her learn how to drive 5 speed, she will only be driving it sometimes, and I don't have a spare car to teach her 5 speed, and don't feel like going through clutchs's and what not, allready happened with my sister !

And I figure it will make a good family car because it has room for 5 people, and it's ok that its a coupe,it's something we both wanted

Any 1 have any pic's of there preludes 97-01 ?? or anyone else want to give input about it ??

They are great looking cars, and I always wanted one, but are not the most practical or fuel efficient of hondas. Then again, anything compared to a v8 jeep will be economical. The seats are tiny, and a coupe body will make it a pain in the ass to load and unload the kids; and when they get older, they will barely fit at all. I say get a 4 cyl accord sedan from 98-2002. It looks good, is fuel efficient, and will be more accommodating as a family car, seeing as how you are getting rid of the jeep and accord. Too bad you need an automatic one, because the 4 cyls feel pretty sluggish with that.

yea anything other than the jeep is fine lol !!! I do plan on buying another truck in a couple of years [4-5] so if I buy the prelude now it will be a DD for a couple years, then I will eventually buy another truck [Honda Ridgeline] v6 and its roomy,so once I do buy the ridgeline which im sure I am,I am going to make the prelude into a get back and forth to work car,and work on it and make it faster than it is lol

but after those 4 years don't worry it will get a 5 speed swap, cuz my girl will have the truck to use :D

Well, I don't know how old the kids are, but I have a 6 yr. old and am glad he's old enough to put on his own seatbelt, because strapping kids into a car seat in the back of a small coupe, which the prelude is, is not something I would recommend. Not to mention toys, bottles, snacks, diaper bags, or the myriads of other stuff that goes in and out of any car with kids in it. From my standpoint, I would seriously reconsider the purchase.

it's not going to be a every day car for my girl and daughter,it's going to be a car that I use to get back and forth to work, because I work 30 minutes away from my house on a good day,and about 45 minutes on a traffic day,and the jeep aint cutting it,and the accord is her car,,and we considered on keeping her accord so we can move around in the car with the baby seat..so let me change my question up-----

WOULD A 97-01 PRELUDE BE A GOOD CAR FOR ME TO DRIVE [PERIOD] BACK AND FORTH TO WORK,AND SOMETIMES ON WEEKENDS ??

You're all over the place here bro, I based my opinion on you saying you were selling the accord and didn't have a spare car around. So basically you changed your whole question and want to know if a Prelude is a good DD. Well yeah, of course it is. For that matter, if she's not going to be driving it often, get a Ferrari with the paddle shift transmission. I mean seriously, not to many people on HS are gonna tell you a Honda won't make a good DD.

yea I was reading over on what you were saying, and what everyone else wasy saying and decided to keep the accord for the wifey and daughter, and buy a prelude for me =]

Preludes are the flagship for Honda US. All Hondas are some of the most reliable machines on the earth. You get more than you pay for with a used Honda of any model or year.

No brainer. speaking of, I still can't figure out why there are three "g"s in this title. What the hell is that supposed to do ?
