Amen for mechanic friends! How much did you price your head work to be and what are you getting done to it?

Also, there are two upgrades that you have not mentioned yet, which are not engine related, that I am still waiting to hear from you. :D These are vital in helping to control your car. That's a hint, by the way. :D

Damn newbyness is kicking in >.< no i do not have an ecu picked out and everything that goes with the VTEC wiring, any suggestions?

well that too but I'm not worrying about anything else on the car for now until i get the engine done because i don't plan on driving it once i get it, but i will be upgrading everything else once the engine is done =]. and when I mount it i'll get sturdier engine brackets, also do you think a block girdle is worth the price? Also any suggestions on what top go with on the whole ecu? Thanks a lot, man i feel embarrassed asking so many questions to people who know tons more than me >.<

edit- o nvm on the ecu i didnt see your last post, hmmm maybe we can both work on the ecu together down the road =D

I think you should invest a little at the start in suspension. If you put a bunch of power under the hood without decent suspension you are going to have a hard time keeping it properly planted. I know you will drive it once you put the engine in it and I just think you will be safer if you do some work on the stability off your car. My .02. Sorry to give advice to someone else in your thread Luis.

Well thank you for the advice and I'll think about that tonight because I think I"m gonna start my collection of parts for the hopefully not too far away future when I get the car. I think I'm gonna spend no more than 400 tonight anyways so i can still have money on hand. Any suggestions to where i should start off? Btw thanks a lot for the advice, i want as much as i can get ^('.'^)

-edit, btw Luis i think you were also talking about the tranny?, well thats where i have had a lot of problems because i see a lot of conflicting points and have no idea which way to head. Of course it needs to be manual and run on Vtec. >.<

No worries Conan. You're right with what you said.

Now is the time where we cut the umbilical cord and you go off and do your research my friend. After all, you will not learn anything else if we sit here and give you all of the answers. Once you do your research, you can start your own build thread. An inquiry here and there is all right, but to have everyone outright answer all of your questions...nay. I will give you the second thing you should upgrade, your brakes. If you can go fast but can't stop, then what good is your build.

My suggestion, pick a starting point, being the head, block, tranny, suspension, brakes, paint, wherever YOU would think it would be smartest to start and go from there. Right now though you need to do research. Take the time to read around the site, get ideas and I have faith that you will do very well. Best of luck to you my friend.

seing as you dont have a car yet, why dont you invest in a VTEC b-series head ... than when you do get around to buying a car you can get and older LS integra as they arent very expensive, then when you slap the head (and all the appropriate wiring of course) on there you have what is lovingly refered to as the LS/VTEC which is basically just as good as a GSR and such  that is kinda my plan for the future :)

hmmm, thanks I'll keep this in mind cause i was planning on buying the head soon so i can start working on that before i got the car. And Luis I'm sorry if it seemed like i was thread stealing at all. it's just so much easier to ask questions then research which i think I've been doing too much of cause i have lost way too much sleep lately cause of it.

Researching =Addicting -.-

just one last question though if you don't mind, are there any benefits of LS/VTEC compared to VTEC? Thanks a ton =].

It's all good, Conor. It wasn't much of a "thread stealing" as you put it, more like a thread "massaging" so it is okay. :D

That's how I started my build, with just the head. It's a good starting point I believe, though others may think differently.

Research is like crack to me.

Hmm, benefits? The LS blocks are cheaper to find, the stroke of an LS is 89mm vs. 87mm of a GSR...umm, I know that there are a few more but I can't think of it. Search LSVTEC and you will see plenty of builds on here. :D

Did you ever put up any pics of your new wheels? Are they on the car yet?

No to the first part and yes to the second part. :D I'm pondering putting some pictures up, though I really want to wait until you and I meet up, do a few more things and then put the pictures up and make the car look nice.

Big reveal indeed. My mechanic keeps on playing around and threatening to put my 17's on now. It would look hideous at stock height I believe and I want the car painted first, with different lights, the suspension you are getting me and THEN I will unveil it. :D Ironically enough, my hatch is not the car which this build is being made for.

On a side note, this is my 2,000th post! WOOP WOOP :D:eek3::excl::happydance::w00t:

any suggestions for a d-series monkey out there? oops, wrong forum, could you guys guide me to the right forum as I am a noobie and dont have my GPS handy:).

Bahahahah...

Sounds like a good idea, Luis. I don't think a turbo would do so well with no engine

Like I was saying...haha...my mechanic's son has a friend who has 85.5mm CP pistons for sale and I am waiting for him. As soon as I have those I will have the block DONE!
