I know everything
I have a problem with my TPS. I'm getting engine code 7, and when I got the car the TPS was unplugged. I plugged it back in, and the car idled bad when warm, so I'm installing one from a parts car.

TPS @ closed: .44-.47
TPS @ open: 4.25

I'm still getting the code. What could be wrong? I'm taking the voltage between the middle wire and the negative terminal on the battery.

I'm going to go out right now and check to see if the TPS has a good ground.

Only thing that I can think of is that TPS should be .5V closed. Is this true? I've read .45V and .5V.

I remember when my TPS went back, I took it to the parts store, the guy unplugged it and guess what? It sounded fine, plugged it back and and it idled like shit. My non-professional guess is that your TPS is bad. It happens. Best of luck to you.

makes sense to me. very accurate nonprofessional guess

sounds like it was unplugged for a reason

Ok Sherlock, the reason that it was unplugged is because this car is a piece of shit, not because the car in and of its self is shit, but because on of it's previous owners is a dip shit and thought that he had the automotive know how to accomplish such simple tasks as hammering on wheel bearings onto obviously spun hubs and "kustomize" the interior with cheap blue spray paint and carpet removal.

I'm pretty sure that Honda didn't design it so that the ECU didn't require any TPS input, and the only way to keep the car running smoothly after 2xx,xxx miles (Odometer is broken... see above) is to unplug the "unnessasary" TPS sensor.

In short, I'm not looking to "mask" the problem like the previous owner(s). Instead, I would like to get this car into a reliable and attractive state.

And I figured out my TPS issue. By checking the voltage across the middle wire and the ground wire (Not the battery like I heard suggested by someone else), I then adjusted the TPS so that it was running .5V closed. Engine light is off again, but still having idle issue.

Next stop, idle air control valve...

all i was saying was that the previous owner unplugged it for a reason. i didn't say it was supposed to be unplugged. i'm glad you figured out the issue. have fun with that blue painted interior

I figured that it was just unplugged because the TPS was bad, but plugging in both made the error go away.

The car was blue interior with bright blue painted pieces. I've already swapped in almost all black plastic, and painted the few pieces that I didn't have with the right kind of flat black so they match and have the same texture until I can find more CRX's for parts or at the junkyard.
