Ok I have a 94 civic eg.
I know how to chage the pads on the front (disks) and did so.
The rear had drum brakes, I don't really know how to change the shoes on that. I managed to get the rear passanger side drum off and shoes replaced, but I did so incorectly because it doesn't stop the tire, lol. I can't use the rear driver side drum shoes setup that I haven't touched yet because I can't manage to get the damn drum off. I banged the shit out of it and what not, its not coming off. Any ideas?

Oh and I posted here because I couldn't post under General tech.
where should I normaly post something like this?

Step 1: Jack up rear of car.
Step 2: Remove wheels
Step 3: remove rear trailing arms, drums, etc.
Step 4: Install integra trailing arms and disks
Step 5: Admit that you have a problem
Step 6: Deny it
Step 7: Don't post drunk as crap
Step 8: Enjoy your disk brakes. Drums are shit.

umm real help as to how i should remove the drum please?
ill upgrade braking after i get my z6 swap this is just for now.

got it =]
ok soo i put some wd-40 in there and took a crow bar and bashed the fuck out of it and then pryed it out =]
there was nothing left on the shoes haha
any diagrams on how the springs and clips go on the civic drums?

I have never changed a drum brake. I always tear them off and toss them in the trash. 3 cars now.

You take the drums off both sides, then pull the springs and all other crap that makes drum brakes work off one side, replace shoes and use the side that you havent yet touchedfor reference to to put it back together. That is how Ive always done them, but I say junk the drums and go disc.

what all would be required to do a good brake swap? lets say i wanted to swap out the drum on my Sol, would i have to get discs off of a Sol Si or VTEC model, or could i get them off of any honda of similar model?

Any EG with discs will work, just make sure you get the e-brake cables too, as they differ form the drum cables.

how hard is it to convert from drum to discs?
and more info on conversion plz including $$ cost for everything.
thx alot.

My accord already had disk brakes. THANK GOD!

Drums Suck! :D

The price for the conversion may vary. Go to a junkyard find what you need and ask for a price.

Pretty easy, check out passwordjdm.com or you local yard, you will need to get an alignmet afterwards sinceyoull be taking the control arms off.

all the junkyard around here have hardly any hondas, i have looked them all over, but people buy them as salvage titles & fix em up. one yard owner told me that he actually had a list of garages that he called as soon as one came in

its gonna be a job just finding a donor car, haha
but thanks man i will look into it

FF cars hardly uses the rears, so if your drums are in tip top shape you will brake just as good with drums than with disks. imho

brake fade is another story. if the car is heavily tracked/ modified then they are very use full. because of the compounds available in pads and not in shoes

example... stoptech doesnt make BBK for the rear of most FF cars. when i ordered the BBK for my friends 04 TL i asked why they didnt make a BBK upgrade for the rear. they told me the would simply lock up. and that a rotor, pad and line upgrade was just as effective in keeping up with the front BBK.

so i think if you get fresh blanks, great pads for the application, some GOOD brake fluid and SS brake lines, along with fresh drums and shoes for the rear youll stop better than sticking rears in the back and calling it a day.

other than the bling factor for DD drums are lighter and will perform great.

and if you drag race drums are definitely the choice. just look at a pro civics, they will have small lightweight disks. too small to DD

i say scrap the drums and grab some disks off an integra.
