alrighty.. getting ready to polish another set of wheels, but i wanna make it a little easier on myself this time... i was just wondering if there is a polishing brush drill attachment thing.. i know it'll only work so much, but its makes life easier on my arms.. any info appreciated

haha.. yea right.. you gotta see the surface i'm working with.. freshly sandblasted

its gonna have to be a carbon steel brush or something along those lines.. its may look patchy after it though, but i'll finish up with fine grit sandpaper

Put it on blocks, slap it in gear, and watch your fingers.

So its just raw? I mis-read it the first time. I dont know Ive always done it the hard way, sand-> wet-sand-> corse buffing compound-> fine compound. I really dont know of any other easier way to do it.

..
yea.. thats the way i've always done it.. sand-wetsand-buff-polish

ttiwwop :) in for the before and afters. i have a set of oldschool enkeis sitting in the garage begging me to sandblast 'em. not entirely sure what i'd do with them after....but i figure i need to see some of your work to motivate me. :D

Getting them to "polished" after sand blasting them is a freaking chore and a half. Powder coat ftw. Done.

eh.. wouldnt look good completely powdercoated.. i'll see what i can do.. i have nothing but time

and yea.. once i started to hit the lip w/ paper i realized it was a bad idea sandblasting them.. shoulda just used soem stripper.. oh well.. ya live and ya learn

you can allwas have them blasted with glass bead or walnut shells it will smooth them out quite a bit before the polishing begins

i'll either try the flap wheel or one of those sanding pads that look like a brillow (sp?) pad that go on the cordless drill

Do you have any pictures of the wheels you're working on?

Seriously, my first suggestion actually works. Get some wet/dry sand paper, put the vehicle on blocks, put it in gear, and apply the sand paper. You can get at least half of your sanding done in 20 minutes per wheel. 250, 400, 800, 1500 grit, then mother's mag polish (little white jar, about 5 bucks, best stuff in the world for fine polishing) Its dangerous as hell, so take the proper safety measures. E-brake and chock the wheels, tether your car to another car via tow hooks, etc.. So if it falls off the stands it'll just die instead of running off on ya. And of course, watch your hands and fingers.

I actually had a set of HX's soda blasted. They came out so smooth all I did after was scotchbrited them. The green dish pad works goood. If it's in your budget I'd have them soda blasted. Almost left mine looking like chrome.

soda blast will not take away the roughness of the corse sand it would have to be blasted in various grains to get it smooth and soda blast is like 1000 grit

thanks klyph on the flap wheel sandpaper.. i bought a couple and its working wonders.. what i could get done in 2 hours i got done in 10 minutes

yea, i'd rather not.. thanks for the insane idea though.. haha..

I like those. Paint the whole thing and polish the lip and the top.

yea.. i was thinking about polishing the face of the mesh and do the inside black.. if i dont like it, i can spray the whole mesh black
