I am looking to purchase a 2008 Civic SI.. There is not much out yet on what you can do to mod a new SI.. So I figured I would ask the guys that know it all! Just wanting to know what kind of power I can get out of a new SI?

so what bolt ons would get a stock k20z3 to 235whp? and those would most likely void the warranty right?

Get a good quality intake, header, and exhaust, and then have the ECU tuned. And yes, if you mess with the ECU at all it will probably void the warranty...the bolt-ons may even void the warranty as well...

ok what exhaust sounds best on a k20?? I just want it to have a deeper tone but not be too loud.. All the exhaust sites say they have a deep throaty tone but I have heard some that create the sound that give imports a bad name... And the last thing i would want on my new car would be an annoying exhaust...

well i love the sound of the stock 06-07 si myself but other than that mugen or greddy sp2 is the way to go

No joke! They do sound good stock..but I would be doin it strictly for performance reasons.. But I love the way it sounds when the i-vtec kicks in!!!!

I would ask the dealership what mods you can do without voiding the warranty. That way you don't have to worry about spending money on something that could cost you more money in the future...

Once you find out the information, you should post it on here, so other people can reference it as well...

yeah thats my plan... that is what i love about this place.. its the gift that keeps on givin!

Uh, i-vtec is always running. It's constantly altering the cam timing. What you're talking about is VTEC.

and if i remember right the only thing that you can do that wont void the warranty is tent the windows lol

Pretty sure that's not right. You can install a stereo, and not void the powertrain warranty. It may void specific warranties, but not the whole thing. I'd check on that before I did anything.

of course, depending on what you change

i have the hks hi-power on my dc5, it sounds really really nice, not raspy at all. it will probably sound the same on your car cuz they are both k series..

ok thanks thats what i'm lookin for i really dont like that raspy sound at all..

yeah i hate that ricey sound that the ppl with the titanium wings and altezza tail lights have.. i have the hks hi power and the dc sport race header. it sounds amazing and it is perfect fitment on my car. my friend has a 08 si with a 70mm skunk2 exhaust, which also sounds really good. and another friend. i think more of the rasp comes from the motor, k series has alot less rasp if any, i hear alot of rasp from d series and b series. Basically any legit exhaust will sound good, just dont get a universal fit exhaust that the ppl i stated above have lol

edit: here are some exhaust sounds i got from youtube so you can hear the sound

the only thing i think doesnt void warranty is a exhust, header, intake, ecu tune, etc voids warranty. even a short shifter. a buddy has a RSX type-s, he's asked dealers all kinds of questions on do's and donts.
