Well I've been gone a while, and I should be back now. The story behind my dissaperance is as follows

I work on a govt instalation, however am not employed by the govt. There was an email going around work a few weeks ago with a link in it. Click the link and some NWS stuff came up, which violates govt computer useage policy. So there were lots of repremands going around and I got one. So I figured it best if I stayed off the computer as much as possible for a while. Things have quited down about it this week, so I figure it's time to come say hi again. Everyone is gone from the office as today is employee apprecation day (as a contractor I could go but would have to use my vaction time so I stayed here) so today was the perfect day to get back on.

The past few weeks have been busy. My divorce is done, moving back into my house this weekend and I've met someone (we're going on our first date tomorrow). My son has been diagnosed with ADHD and it seems we've finally found the right medication for him he's doing much better now. There are a few other things going on, but I've typed enough already. I'll talk about them later

A attention
D deficite
H Hyperactivity
D Disorder

To make a long story short this has been going on for a while now and it got to the point that I almost lost child care for him because of his behaviour. There were some very stresfull times.

adhd can be over come as they get older i think the little guy will be just fine

Yes it can be. There are diffrent things that can be done as far as learning copeing mechanisims. But these are things that have to be taught and he has to "grow into it" a little. It's never easy to watch your child struggle though.

yea that cant be easy at all my g/f has it and shes dyslexia but i would have never known it unless her mom told me how hard it was when she was a kid, she has over come all of it by the time we got together and i couldnt tell that she had anything.

i have my own opinions of "attention deficit disorders" and the medicinal "treatment" of them based on my own personal history, as well as the experiences of friends who were also "diagnosed" and "treated"

i feel it is best for me to leave my opinions out of this thread

so im just gunna stay out of this one

actually, i think you should post it. it makes sense.

welcome back, nootrac! good to hear all of the news, sans the work pc crap. :D

he was rehab'ing his house

and definately good luck on your date
ttiwwop

does the divorce being finalized have anything to do with you moving into the house now? or just coinsidence?

actually, i think you should post it. it makes sense.

essentially it is a made up condition, invented by drug companies, teachers, and "psychologists"

ADD, ADHD, or whatever the hell else you want to call it is a bullshit, made up, disease.
it doesn't and never did exist
at best ADD is a misdiagnosis of a real more serious actual medical condition, that will generally go untreated until it becomes MUCH more serious

any "disease" that can be diagnosed by a teacher putting a check mark next to 6 of 9 boxes is a complete fucking farce

  1. Often fidgets with hands or feet or squirms in seat
  2. Often leaves seat in classroom or in other situations in which remaining seated is expected
  3. Often runs about or climbs excessively in situations in which it its inappropriate
  4. Often has difficulty playing or engaging in leisure activities quietly
  5. Is often on the go or often acts as if driven by a motor
  6. Often talks excessively
  7. Often blurts out answers before questions have been completed
  8. Often has difficulty awaiting turn
  9. Often interrupts or intrudes on others
seriously??

heres a link that does a pretty good job of outlining what bullshit this "disease" is
its pretty long and there is a lot to read... but if you are going to click the link please read it all
ADD/ADHD: The "Designer Disease"

again, as with all of my links, they are not (and are not meant to be) the be all end all on any topic. they are there to hopefully whet your appetite and get you to do more research on your own, to develop your own knowledge base and opinions of a topic
please... do your own research... look for the information... look who the information is coming from... analyze their motives

i guess ill go put on my flame suit for the 43289321 people who are going to bash me now, because they REALLY have ADD or their brother/sister/cousin/roommate/etc REALLY has ADD and the fact that im saying its bullshit shows how little i know about it... i know more about this "disease" than any of the teachers who are diagnosing it, the psychiatrists who are promoting it, or the drug companies who are whoring it... in 3rd grade i was diagnosed with ADD (w/ hypo-activity)... guess what i was given to "treat" my "disease"... i took myself off of the Ritalin (against everyone's wishes) in 5th grade... with no drugs i made honor roll every semester that year, and got student of the month twice... that was enough to show my parents that this "disease", and "treatment"" was bullshit

well even if adhd isnt a real thing what ever it is that makes them like that is real, no matter what they call it

i blame it on the school systems
making children sit for hours, just training them for a life of meaningless office work

i was always bouncing off the walls in school
but i knew better than to come home with bad grades
an ass whooping was a good reminder not to act up in class

One of the things causing the 'disease', lack of consequences for kids. If they can do whatever they want without getting in any real trouble, why not do it?

That's in general, not your kid specifically noot. :)

bah fuck you... i was typing that between making DNS entries and setting up monitoring for one of your new sites

at least i spelled the wrong word right :p

Kids nowadays have it pretty tuff. From the moment they step into school ppl relentlessly push all that "You are the future" shit onto em. Dont get me wrong, its good that kids feel good about themselves, and feel needed, but they dont need the responsibility of the world before they can tie their own shoes. Combine that with parents who believe that the second the child leaves their side, a rapist or murderer will take em, and you get kids who sit in school all day only to go home and study all nite. Theres no break for em. No chance to be KIDS.

Anyways, back on topic, welcome back, and have fun on your date!
