My name is Byron.
How can you tell the difference between a regular LS trans and the B16 (cable) if the sticker is gone? Without digging into it right?:(

im not sure other than looking at the rpm and speed

I think the only way is to look at the gears and see what the final gear ratio is. There's no markings on the tranny to tell you.

2nd gear is good until about 65, which seems kinda long.

The people at Honda didnt realize it wasnt a good idea to use a sticker to identify trannys until 96'.

yea thats damn long sounds like a ls

I just wanted to know because its starting to grind going into 3rd, and if it was a B16 tranny Id put new sychros in it, but if its just an LS Im just going to pick up another one for $200 or so.

i think the b16 trans can hit it at red line but im not real sure it just sounds more like a ls but ill find out

From that graph Im pretty sure its an LS tranny. Thanks a lot.

if its an Ls tranny at 80 mph in 5th gear it'll sit around 3500 rpm i believe.. if its a b16 tranny its gonna sit at about 4400 at 80 in 5th.. GSR is 4000 at 80
