My name is Byron.
Ok so here is my problem, my B16 EF (all OBD0) is running like crap. Its running really rich (20mpg) without being on it. Thats normal not "spirited" driving. What is up with that? Injectors shot? Ive got a pair of good OBD0 injectors I can swap in. And after about a half hour of driving if Im sitting at a stop light my tach will start to jump around as well as my temp gauge. Its not over heating and not revving those RPMs, and while its doing that you can hear the main relay clicking really loud and the CEL will flicker. Sometimes it will die and you cant start it for another five minutes or so. So WTF is going on? A short somewhere? Bad dizzy? ECU?I have a second relay that Ive tried and it still does the same thing. Help me out please, this is really starting to get on my nerves.

EF's are notorious for having ignition switch problems. Try checking that out. Not the lock cylinder, the ignition harness behind the lock key cylinder.

The jumping tach sounds like an ignitor problem, which in turn could also be the source for your car wanting to die and the lights flickering. It could also be your source for running rich since it could be creating a weak spark...

Also, obd0 hardly ever lets you know when your o2 is clogged/old. It's like you'll only throw an o2 code with obd0 is if the sensor completely stops working or isn't plugged in at all. Make sure your o2 is still ok. This could also be your running rich problem...

I just replaced the igniter in my dizzy, but I swiped it from an extra old D-series dizzy I had laying around so maybe that one is no good either. Any ways Ill check into the stuff you mentioned and see if it helps.

Make sure that bitch is tightened down real good. They are real sensitive to the slightest movement and vibration. I learned this the hard way at the track one night lol.

I will do that. This thing has been pissing me off so bad.
Shit I hear ya... My tach was bouncing at the track while I was in a bracket racing competition lol. My times were all over the place lol. 15.7, 14.5, 16.1, ect... fucking everywhere lol...

Mine doesnt jump RPMs on the motor its just the tach that is jumping around. Say your sitting at a light and it will be idling at 750 the whole time but the needle on the tach is fluctuating between 750 and 3000, just as an example.

I know... That's what i'm saying... How was I supposed to stage properly or know my shift point if my tach was bouncing every where on it's own...

Deep breaths, Byron. DEEP breaths. I would invest in some Yoga classes at this point. :D Hardcore sex would work wonders as well in order to help you "release" your anger.

Really though, I'm in it to know what you end up figuring out. Sorry I can't be of help.

Bad dizzy. Mine did the EXACT same thing.

bad distributor x3
i bought a new obd0 distributor from Distributor king after i read up on all of the replacements. they claim their igniter is tolerant to 100degrees hotter than the factory honda one, and that their bearing is made of superior steel. i believe i paid around $200 for it, when the only other options were a used one for $150 from hmotorsonline or a new no-name ebay one for $150. the extra $50 was for the piece of mind.
and if it turns out to be something other than the distributor, then at least two other people offered up my honda POS-dizzy theory first.

Well Im going to check out the other things before I spend the money on a new dizzy when it may not even be the problem. Thanks for all the advice guys!:)
