A bit of history first...
92 hatch vx used to have a b16(VTEC!) in it. Ecu and engine were removed after the block had a hole blown in it. The wiring wasn't touched.

Now I have the car... put a 94 LS into her with GSR manual tranny and LS ecu. Alt, battery, and starter all work fine. Tried carb cleaner while starting her. She's got a half tank of FRESH gas. All four plugs have spark. My grounds are good. She wont fire. I think this might be a wiring issue.. All I did was plug the ecu in and left the wires alone under the glovebox. I am using an LS wiring harness. Do I need to do anything with the wires under the glovebox or any of the wiring harness to get this thing to run? I want to drive this thing, anyone have any ideas on what Im doing wrong?

Change your dizzy to obd1 instead of it being obd2. 94 is obd2 which is a b18b1 and you would need to convert it to obd1 which is your car. Correct me if im wrong?

Also, i didnt ask, but its cranking just not quite getting all the way their? Check your fuel lines and your intake manifold and your dizzy really... sorry not much help but those are what I would look at.

what am i looking for? is there any way to test those?

Look at your engine code, its right next to where the tranny meets the block, if its obd1 it will say b18a if its obd2 it will say b18b not sure how to tell other then that.

its obd1, B18B1. I talked with the previous owner who had the vtec engine in. For the vtec swap (which he did) he changed out three wires going to the ECU. Because the car was wired for vtec.... He said... "you will have to unpin it at the ecu plugs. then put the 3 wires that are loose at the plugs back in their origional places." I have identified the three wires i need to unplug. But, Im not sure what he means when he says i have to out them back into their original places....Where were they originally?

I checked all over the engine and bay for grounds with a voltmeter. Grounds are good. Fuel pump comes on and sounds normal when I turn the key to the second turn. Smells like gas after that. I know Its getting gas. Spark plugs were all checked and have decent looking spark on them. Good, fresh gasoline. Ecu is wired correctly now. Starter is cranking. It sounds normal when trying to start, like it should just start right up when cranking it, but it just wont fire. Carb cleaner and pumping the gas pedal have not worked either. Im clueless At this point.

B18B1 is obd2. Another way to tell is by the valvecover. If it has a PCV valve, dead giveaway that it is obd2.

Also, just because it is getting fuel doesn't mean its getting fuel at the right time. Have you checked the injector wiring? How about the dizzy?

I checked the dizzy and it was spun off 180 degrees, I fixed that and still no start. All four plugs sparked when I pulled them out of the cylinders and cranked the engine. What does a PCV valve look like?

Well if you flipped it around now, wouldnt your firing order be out of line?

Like I said earlier, and if your using the OBD2 dizzy with that it will not start.

No, because it was off by 180 degrees before, so flipping it would correct the firing order. How do I tell an OBD1 dizzy from an OBD2 dizzy?

No if the dizzy you flipped 180 and its not starting and before was supposed to be the right firing order, when you flip it 180 the plugs may not be in the right spot, check the firing order and your dizzy

Before I flipped it, I put cyl 4 to TDC. Then took the cover off the dizzy and the metal piece was pointing to #1 (instead of #4, where it should be because I put #4 at TDC). I followed instructions in the manual on how to do it. Did I mess it up even more? I just found that my timing is off and my main relay does not click when I turn the key.

all about the obd1 and obd2 dizzys now if your wiring harness on the ls is obd1 cuz your car is obd1 then your fine soooo therefore you need an obd1 dizzy cuz i dont think obd1 harness plugs will plug into a obd2 dizzy vice versa....now if fuel pump is turning on, getting spark the whole other 9 yards....i would swap out the main relay then try it and redo the timing cuz just if the main relay wont fix it then your deff outta time cuz everything else works

just throw an obd1 dizzy on it. end of story your car WILL NOT work without it.

Ok, dizzy and ecu are both OBD1. Everything on the car is OBD1. I think '92eg hatch' might have something here.... My timing is out of whack so I'll be fixing that today. Everthing else is working. Ive got spark, fuel pump is working, sensors are plugged in and accounted for. I think it might be my main relay. How can I check the firing order to make sure its correct?
