:confused:Hi, I have a 97 honda civic with a D15 block and a D16 head...it used to rev @7500 rpm but about a month ago it started to rev @6000 when I was speeding but when the car gets cold again it would rev normal, but now as soon as I start the car the rev limiter is at 6000, did any1 had this problem before?? I did change the dizzy and the ecu but it's still the same:confused:

Uh, since when did a d-series have a redline of 7500? The fuel cut is at 7200, and the redline is at 6800.

You probably broke a valve-spring. Just take the oil-cap off, and put both tubes of JB-Weld into it, then you should be good to go. Just run it at about 5000 rpm for about a minute in the driveway, then bring it up to 7500. Should be good to go.

thanks for your input, but the valve springs seems to be OK....what I just noticed is that when I take out the 3rd plug wire the engine does idle the same...the spark-plug is ok, I switched it with another one

You still might have a problem with the springs. Do you have a clicking noise when you rev the engine? Try the JB-Weld, you'd be suprised.

my 95 ex redlines at 7200 when i had a d series. i think 92-95 with vtec redline at 7200 and 96+ redline at 6800. i don't believe 7500 but 7200 for a fact

any product with weld in its name and procedure having to do with removing the oil cap to put said product into the block and then revving the engine obviously leads to increased horsepower.

:disguise2:

were is this coming from has it gone to dyno and tested there. if not i doubt it just like adding a high performance cat it don't do jack they even did a show on this on spike (i think it was horsepower tv name of the show) saw this episode

oh man, the fail is strong in this one.

J-B Weld is a company that produces epoxy products. J-B Weld is also the name of their flagship product; a specialized, high-temperature epoxy for use in bonding metal, porcelain, wood, ceramic, and many other applications.

nutshell: if you're cool with putting this shit into the same place you put your motor oil, where your engine revs on any given day is the least of your worries.

i do have to say that my fear is honda-grl will think she would only get great advice from a site like hondaswap vs. a pretty obvious rip on her lack of basic understanding of her own setup and thus try it...

I wasn't going to say anything...

Dacheat: rep, because I couldn't have explained it quite like that.

fanx, yo. i think this thread serves as a necessary lesson to those who would like to work on their cars but really have not put in the study time: don't come to a technical forum with a question that shows your ignorance and expect some internet wizzardz to say a few words in response to your thread that will *poof* make your car suddenly 'work right' again. your car isn't a toaster, but you can turn it into one with ignorance.

there's this resource called a "mechanic" for those of you (me included) who encounter issues that far surpass your understanding of wtf is going on under the hood. and they're used to working for morons. :D

Good god. I think I just shit my pants.

JB in teh valvetrain FTMFW y0! Don't you know all the JDM Type ARR's run it to make da VTAKK louda!11

This thread is amazing. Im going to read it every day for the next two years, or until my eyes bleed. Whatever comes first.
