Will type R pistons rods and rings fit LS block?

Like it says I have a LS block and can buy some type r pistons rods and rings, will they fit right in and give me higher compression? Or is there problems with the bore size and stroke size?

Pistons; with milled LS rods, yes.

The ITR rods are a bit too tall for the stock LS crank. If you put a GSR or Type-R crank, it'll work fine.

So if I had the entire bottom end it would? Type r crank, pistons and rods are good?

found out that for my tech knowledge it isnt worth it, Ill be boosting at a later time and im not to familiar with how to do my own piston swapping or whatever and would be easier just to stay with my ls for now and get a vtec head then boost with ls/vtec... if I knew more knowledge of how to do it myself and the specs and what has to be done. I would be doing it :)

you might find a walk through online line just have to find it.

If you're not too confident about rebuilding the block for pistons/rings/rods, you might want to just turbocharge the block without worrying about the VTEC head. You'll still make plenty of power- more than enough to put a big smile on your face.

The head flow on a LS head is the worst I have heard about? So should I not worry about vtech and just get my friends built head with crower internals?

It flows the least but is still not by any means "bad". People make good numbers everyday boosting a straight up LS.

Swapping pistons isn't hard by any means...

If you think that you could swap in a different head, then you can do it.

Does anyone know if they are floating rods or press? Floating will come apart, a engine machine shop could press the new ones for you, just give them the rods...

I have actually found a guy that will do whatever you need to the LS block to make it vtec capable. He said it would be around 50 an hour for a total of about 250-300 dollars... is this worth it to get vtecckkk?

In MY opinion, no. That's because I would do it myself for free.

Depending on what other kinds of repairs that you typically do, you might be capable of doing it. Once you break that barrier and start working on motors, you find out that there really isn't a lot to fear about them.

If you feel completely incapable, then it might be a good idea, depending on who this guy is. How good of work does he do, and how much work is required to do it. I wouldn't leave the deal open ended though, if this guy really knows his stuff, then make him commit to a price. If you leave it open ended, then he could come back saying that he ran into stuff and that it's going to be 4 hours more so now it's 450-500.

And for that price, make sure that he's doing all of the little stuff too... water pump, front main, cleaning the head gasket surfaces. And buy all of the parts so that he don't rip you off on them.

He said he has done 3 of his own ls/vtec builds and 2 for his friends so he is familiar and says it works good what he has done. Ill talk to him more, but i feel more confident after i tear apart my motor a bit more, gonna take the tranny off and sell it and get a gsr

also I want more power then average. I just am wanting to be able to pull up to a car and be able to beat MOST i say most because i mean with like over 200 hp I can beat most cars...

just thinking of a good setup. My friend has a LS crower internal head without cams, for 400, may do that and get some crower all motor cams with some b16 pistons for higher compression :) call my motor complete! What do you guys say?

Update, Have found some type R pistons in good shape for 80 bucks for the 4. Im now thinking, type r pistons with crower topend no vtec.

put the type r pistons in it then put a B16 head on it and have you a poor mans type r thats what my friend did with his GSR and it is fast as hell
