So i have a 93 del sol with a blown b16 motor. I havent had alot of luck finding a b16 to replace it with. Im thinking about dropping in a b18. Is there a better, cheaper motor to drop in than a b18? I know im going to have to get a tranny, axles, mounts, ECU and probaly a new harness. Is there anything that im forgetting?

all you need is to replace the broken stuff.
you can keep axles, tranny, etc.
if you are talking about a nonvtec b18 then wiring is easy.
if you are talking about a b18 vtec motor than wiring is still easy.
you would just need the ecu that matches the motor, motor, and some wiring.
your challenge isnt even considered a swap since you already have all the bseries components. :)

When you say "blown" what exactly do you mean? Like hole in the block. or just needs rings and such? Because it would be way less to rebuild it than to do a swap.

No the motor is blown, like the broken rod blew a hole out of the side of the block. I just want a little more horsepower than 130. So now i have a SOHC VTEC, IF i goto a B16 or a B18, can i use my existing wiring harness with a new ECU.

Yes, you can use you existing wiring harness, and you can even use your stock P28 ECU if you have it chipped. But the proper ECU would be the P30, it comes in lots of OBDI DOHC VTEC cars, so it should be easy to find.

i think he has a D16 not a B16, which means you will need tranny, axels, ext

No i have a b16Z SOHC motor, I was letting the girlfriend drive it for a few months till she got a new car and it had an oil leak she obviously didnt keep up with. I have decided that Im just going to drop in a B16A and keep the same displacement, mostly for gas mileage reasons. I just want to confirm from you guys, even though im going from a SOHC to a DOHC all I need to replace is the ECU and the motor. The wireing harness will be the same.

You have the D16z6. And yes your wiring harness will work without any modification (as long as you stay OBDI). You will need motor, tranny, axles, shift linkage, motor mounts, and the ECU that goes with whatever motor you choose.

You will need the B16's transmission as well. D-series transmissions will NOT bolt up to B-series engines...

when he was talking about 130hp & SOHC i thought he might have his wires crossed.
So now the swap is just a lil bit more complicated, but not much more
