Ok, so Ive smoked cigarettes for about a year and at first I didnt really care, but now Im starting to see the effects of it. I get winded way easier than I used to is what Ive really noticed. So if anyone has a good way you or one of your friends have quit, let me know. Oh and dont say cold turkey, I tried that. I went 3 days without and by the third day I was getting so pist at every little thing.
 
to be honest, and you'd better not laugh, get some cinammon sticks at the store and everytime you have a craving stick one in and suck on it for a bit, my friends have tried it and i did and it worked for me, there was an article a while back about something it releases into the brain to help with cravings... just my .02
 
I quit for a month once, but than said fuck it.

I took this pill called Chantix ... it blocks the nicotine receptors on your brain, so even if you do smoke a cigarette it does nothing for you. it also releases the dopamine still in smaller amounts though.
 
I quit smoking almost 3 years ago. I had been a pack a day smoker for about 3 years at the time, it was hard, but worth it.

Yes, but not nearly as much as I do, she smokes on or two a day. I was up to almost a pack a day for a while. If I really try I can make a pack last me a week now, so Ive cut back, but I want to quite completely. She mentions it every now and then that she wants to try too. Honestly if we both decided to quit and stick it out it would make it easeier for us both to quit.
 
in all honesty i think the way you quit comes down to the individual. i mean cold turkey worked for me but not for my fiance or friends. i would look into a few different ways to kick the habit and try them out. you never know what will work for you...good luck and stay strong.
 
the easiest way to quit is to stop buying them.
 
seriously... if you only smoke a pack a week, just stop
you are not addicted to nicotine
chew some gum or chew on coffee stirrers or something for a little while
 
sunflower seeds.. i smoked for 8 yrs and quit like nothing.. its not hard, you just have to have your mind set to it
 
I used to smoke a pack and a half a day. I quit cold turkey. I was one pissed mofo for a couple of weeks. I woke up on the hour all through the night for about two weeks too. I prayed a lot and that helped. It can be done. Shit just sucks for a bit is all. It passees just like everything else.
 
Get pregnant. You wouldn't want to harm your child so you'll stop cold turkey :ph34r:
 
my wife watched something on TV...about how the lung turn to crap, and she quit that night. And she smoked for about 16 years. and that was 11 years ago.

I still smoke, but I'm getting to the point that I might quit on a whim.
 
Just quit. Just put down a half empty pack and decide you don't want them anymore. Keep the pack around, and test the strength of your resolve. How strong are you? Really?

Pick three days straight where you can be alone, sleep a shit load, and warn everyone to stay away. Thats how I did it. 9 years, 3 packs a day. Done. It was hard, but its doable. I also, after the three days were up, ate the shit out of apple jolley ranchers. Always carried a bulging pocket full of 'em. But during the three days, I slept, got up ate something, pee'd, went back to bed.. Bit the head off of anyone or anything that dared move in my presence.

Keeping the half empty pack is a psychological thing. Its not that you tossed them, don't have them, and can't have them.. You have them and don't want them. It makes a world of difference. I kept my pack in the junk drawer for a couple of years afterward.
