I finally finished my true cold air intake for my Del Sol. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. I originally just had a short ram.

What I wanted to do was take my 3" short ram and extend it into the area in front of my fender well. The area is away from the engine and stays cool even on hot days when my car is at operating temp.
I first cut out the circular indention above and in front of my left fender well. Since my intake system is 3", I cut the hole to be about 3.25" To do this I used a drill to drill a bunch of holes around the edge and then used a dremel cutter to completely cut it out. Then I switched to a grinder to get rid of some of the rough edges and make it look nicer. (notice how it's not round at the top and some of the plastic liner of the fender well is showing, that gives the piping something other than metal to rest on. I didn't do it on purpose but it actually worked out quite nicely. If your going to try it I recommend the same)

Next you need some extra piping... I ordered this piping a few months back and can't remember where I got it, but it's 3" aluminum and it has two bends.

Next you will need to take this pipe and attach your air filter too it inside your fender well in front of the plastic liner. I turned my wheels all the way to the left and unscrewed my bumper to do this.

From there it's pretty easy. I used a 3" silicone coupler and two hose clamps to connect the two pipes. I might wrap the entire system with insulated foam wrap if I can find some that won't look crappy. Hope this helps some of you guys out there with short rams. I will keep looking through my emails and see if I can find the website I ordered that pipe from. If you have a short ram intake it's a pretty simple process to turn it into a true cold air intake.

looks good, i did the same thing on a DA i used to have... it worked out nicely and wasnt too hard.

Dryer-vent works well too, not nearly as clean though.

Not true, the area that the pipe going to is closed off. I would have to be trying to ford through a foot of water to suck up enough water to hydrolock my motor.
water is your new enemy, No puddles for Joo.
