Hey my name is Brian and I'm new to the tuner world and i just bought my first car. It's a 1992 civic sedan with a D16Y8 engine. But my question is that coming out of my VTEC solenoid there is a green wire, but this wire is spliced and nothing is at the other end of it. Is this wire just a ground or is something supposed to be attached? And also where does the oil dipstick go in at? I've looked everywhere and I cannot find it. The dipstick was in the trunk when i bought the car. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

That green wire goes to your vtec selonoid if im not mistaken and needs to be plugged into your ecu in order for your vtec to cross... Right now your just running a normal SOHC D series engine. And for the dipstick its in the front of the block towards the front bumper on the block.

Why was the dipstick in the trunk? And yeah, the VTEC is disconnected. It sounds like you bought somebody else's POS half-assed project car...

Dipstick should go in the front of the motor, right between the header...

not on a y8. the dipstck goes infront of the timing belt cover, but behind the power steering bracket, the tube for it will be there

:werd: That threw me for a loop when I got my EK.

Ok well I found out that the dipstick tubing is not there and that the vtec is not connected. So how can i go about reconnecting this? Where can I get the connector and would the other end of this be connected to the ecu? thanks for replies.

You can get the connector from a junkyard or you could just run a wire to pin 8 on connector A if its obd2a or to pin 12 of connector B if its obd2b. The easiest way to tell which obd2 you have is by the shape of the ecu. If it's a rectangle then you have obd2a if it's a square then its obd2b.
