i have 91 honda civic can i put a 92 non vtec engine in it?

ok i have a 91 honda civic dx and i can not find a motor for it but i can get a 92 engine now its the non vtec engine could i just put that one into my car what problems would i run into when doing this?? they are both d15b

most motors will swap right over...especially the same motors, even if from a different year. heh heh. do a little research and you will be able to find out more in detail about all your available options and how easy it will be to do. good luck. }=)

yes, you can put the 92 engine into your car - you have several options - to swap the 92 engine in complete, as it came out of the 92, you will need to convert the car from DPFI to MPFI - then, you would need to decide whether you wanted to run it as OBD0, which is what your DX is, or run it OBD1, which is what the engine is - running it OBD0 would be just a matter of getting a 88-91 CRX/Civic Si or HF distributor and 88-91 CRX/Civic Si ECU and making the DPFI to MPFI wiring changes, which involves adding some wiring and an injector resistor box - to run it OBD1 you would need the OBD1 ECU for the engine and an OBD0 to OBD1 ECU jumper harness along with doing the DPFI to MPFI wiring changes - another option, and the easiest, would be to swap the intake manifold from your DX engine onto the 92 and leave it as DPFI - use the DX ECU and DX distributor and you would need to make a slight wiring change for the cooling fan switch (which you would need to do in any case)

by the way, i didn't mention that you need to use your DX engine harness on the 92 engine - your DX engine has the cooling fan switch on the back of the block next to the oil filter - 2 wires (yellow with green stripe and black) with a black rubber boot on the connector - the 92 engine has the cooling fan switch on the thermostat housing (where the lower radiator hose connects to the engine) - you need to swap the connector from the 92 engine harness onto your DX engine harness so that it will plug into the switch - you will need to lengthen the wires a little if you are de-pinning the connector - you can just cut the wires on the connectors and splice the wires together - make sure you solder the connections and tape them securely

dude this is piece of cake stuff compared to wiring up vtec and crap on these cars (been there done that) .... ya i knew to use the dx harness but ya thanks this is exactly what i needed to know!!! thanks everyone......................>problem sloved<.......................
