ok so I just scored a rebuilt B17a1, the motor is fresh rebuild less than 100 miles..:D

I was looking for a decent 4cyl to save some gas money and got rid of my tacoma. I checked out a few civic hatches and two integras.... the second integra I looked at was right in my neighborhood and was a 95 gs.. I looked at the body, it was really clean, but no one was home... The next day I caught the guy outside and got to look it over, popped the hood and there was a bone stock B17a1, with a factory air box and all.... At this point I became really confused, the price on the for sale sign said $3500.00 OBO That is when I noticed the brake fluid resevoir for the HYDRO TRANNY!!?? I was beyond confusion at this time, so I asked the guy about the swap, where it was done, how long ago and so on....
The swap was done by a reputable shop here in town, TC performance,.

He then told me it was his sons car and he got arrested on the way home from TC performance, which is why the swap has less than 100 miles, and is selling everything he owns for $ for a lawyer.. Including his car. I then took the car for a drive and it ran great very smooth very quiet, but NO V-TEC, I asked about the vtec not engaging and he told me his son said vtec never worked, and no shops in town could figure why.

Long story short I haggled with him for an hour or so and drove that integra home for $2700, fixed the vtec that afternoon.....

I tested the sollenoid and it did not fire, I applied 12v to it about 15 times really fast and it started clicking, pluged it back in and vtec kicks great...

So to the matter at hand, what should I do,

1: Leave the b17 in the 95 gs and have probably the only b17a1 powered 95 tegg around, and do a few bolt ons, ?? If so what modds are you guys recomending for this setup, I do not wanna boost it......

2: Throw the b17 into a hatch 92 or 93 and do the top end, intake mani, cams and gears, and try and smoke b18 civics

3: Sell the complete motor setup Block, head, tranny, ecu, harness, cv's ect
and build somthing else? if so what??

list some goals.
what are you planing to do with the car? Drag, autocross, just street, all the above?
 
I am not looking to build a drag car, this is goin to be my daily driver. However it would be nice to blow the doors off some stock 5.0 mustangs, or there abouts. :huh:
 
IMO, leave it like it is. Build something and drop it into a hatch or Rex and make that your fun car.

the only reason i'm able to own a gutted out swapped ef is because i also own a more accommodating ek. real life has a nasty way of raining on your parade just when you think things are starting to go your way. having a "real" car gives you the freedom to have a "fun" car. if you don't believe me, see how fun it is when your "real-fun" car spits a rod out the side of the block and you're walking to the bus stop to get to work.

So true. It's nice to get into a car on monday morning, and remember why you bought a car with AC, PS, Hydraulic clutch, and a stereo.
 
I have a stock 92 gsr with 255K. checked rods at 200K middle tolerence, sees 8000 rpm every day, I put ls 5th gear in tranny, put big tires 205 55 15
and get 33 mpg at 80-95 mph for 1000 miles in 13 hrs. I have stock 89si, gets 28 mpg, slow. have 2003 s-2000 turns 4100 rpm at 70 mph, way to low geared, not happy. I would not trade my 92 gsr for 2 s-2000s if I had to drive it all the time, can sleep in back of 92 gsr at car shows or races where there is no lodging like tony stewarts Eldora in the boon docks.
today pu a 95 mini me swap and block, 150miles. take gsr not 2000
toyota pu only gets 22 mpg. Keep the B 1700 my 92 is faster then a 95gsr with b-18. farmerfloyd
