Alright... Well first off Im looking into exhaust systems right now, but what im NOT looking for is another civic that sounds like a weed whacker or a rattling popcan!! I want some nice good deep sound from my car but what is everyones suggestions as far as price to quality of exhaust. I hear brands like Tanabe or OBX and things which dont sound familiar but sounds like a import brand, which if all the good engines are made over there im sure those are good brands... right?? let me know whats up for the exhaust system and what I should be looking at... Also looked at endyn for the headers... 1300 dollars but 20-40 HP increase? Crazy.. anyways give opinions thanks guys!!!

if your not turbo, the tanabe will be deep, and the greddy sp2 will be aggressive but quite.

Greddy sp2... Aggressive...? What is aggressive can you explain? I would rather have performance, but im sick of the weed whackers so if I can get aggressive with some good sound. Count me in... how much are pricing on that?

LS bottom end and supposed to turbo it later, I have the full kit but im trying to still justify myself forking out the money for a vtec head and then the parts i want to build it with...

if your gonna go turbo than forget the sp2. try you tube just type in the name of the exhaust then civic afterwards like so..greddy sp2 civic

skunk 2 makes a really great exhaust i have a gsr with aem intake lots of other bolt ons and that skunk 2 sounds really great its deep good performance very good quality and nicely priced not like the sp2 which i used to have like the skunk 2 lots better and if you run into a problem with the po po's the silencer insert is the only one on the market that doesnt restrict the air flow plus with greddy you pay for the name

the beauty of the sp2 it flows straight through without the noise

i have a 2.5 inlet/outlet vibrant black muffler for sale. PM me. i'll hook you up. its new in box.

Honestly if you're planning on going turbo in the near future then I wouldn't do a damn thing with the exhaust right now. For a turbo setup you're going to want a larger exhaust (2.5" - 3") whereas for N/A setups you'd want a smaller exhaust.

No point in doing it twice...just wait...

Is it really worth it to turbo it for the money that ill be spending on it??? I could get a n/a build with ls vtec to around 170+ hp cause ill have it tuned, then it will be realiable and quick and i wont have to worry about my turbo.. it is my dd and im still trying to decide if i wana turbo it even tho I have the full kit :(

Im basically just scared to create a money pit for myself knowing that ill never be fast enough... If i turbo my ride and lose im gonna be pretty bugged by my nature and want it faster... which means i drive it hard which means problems lol I sometimes think of myself as a race car driver and ZIP places... What about you guys?

I would just keep the LS as an LS (skip the VTEC head) and turbo it. A turbo'd engine can still be reliable as long as it's tuned well...

Why do you say skip the vtec? I can get the kit for 300 from eagle...? or should i just spend that into my ls head? either way this is what i have CURRENTLY

FULL LS swap complete motor with everything except passenger axel.
Full turbo kit minus the couplings to put it together, and a b series turbo manifold.
97 hatch with a SOHC vtec 1.6

with this said, go ls turbo and keep rpms low? or high rpms with turbo and vtec

Leave your engine alone. There will always be someone faster. Or, you could get over that and build your car to please yourself. :)

I have a GReddy SP (the original) and it's one of the better sounding exhausts. Idle is quieter than the stock exhaust and it rips in the high RPMs without sounding like a rice rocket. I've gotten many compliments on it from non-Honda guys.

As far as power, decide how much you want to make. 170whp is going to be a very fun daily driver, even if you won't be able to beat everything on the road. If you want more, a properly designed turbo kit, with proper fuel delivery, and a good tune will be just as reliable as any other engine build. Beyond that, it'll be how you drive. Overly-aggressive driving will wear out any engine before its time.

Which means its laying around? or you are currently using it? I wish exhausts were try before you buy!!! LOL

have you researched how much a complete vtec head goes for? nevermind finding one in good condition (i.e. no leaking valve seals, valve guides that aren't worn to hell, valves that aren't burned to a crisp, cams that aren't scored black, etc.) because you'll need one in addition to the conversion kit.

Yeah checked out 5 of them in my area just posted within last week ranging from 200 to 350 for full complete top end head with full new gasket set on the 350 one... its not bad...

Well if you're willing to spend the money on it then go for it. I'm just saying for a daily driver with pep, a turbo LS will be more then sufficient...

Basically the 600 ill be spending on making my engine vtec... I think will be spent on a PnP on my LS head and then ill have a fully built ls head which would be pretty damn sweet with arp rod bolts stock bottom end...

I think that would be a great idea! The LS head does flow pretty shitty compared to the VTEC heads...

Unfortuneately... Was told this buy like 7 other people so its gotta be true... WELP! :D Means a good port and polish will do wonders

Better flow with a PNP then a regular VTEC head I would say? and a skunk2 IM should be a good combo... still unsure of what internals to go top end and what power im looking for out of my turbo
