I just picked up a J35A1 out of a 01 odyssey for free from work, the motor needs a re-build but no big deal. ive hear/seen the V6 swap into a civic, i hear hasport has some mounts out now but for the 3.0/3.2 i think, i was wondering if the j30 and j35 share the same block, like where every thing bolts up and what not.
Next is does anyone know what trans. would bolt up to it?
i was thinking the accord might if the bolt pattern is the same, but just need some info on this cause i want to do a swap that no one around here ( where i live) would ever think of.
im thinking of putting it into a Hatch (EG).
and another thing would be the ECU? not to sure which ones i can use, cause i want to go manual trans. hope i can get some help.
this will be a project no rush to get it on the road.

thanks.

I wouldnt recommend this swap, the motor is too heavy and the same car, B swapped with some bolt ones will smoke it. But if you really want to go against the grain, go for it, like you said its going to be tough to find all the stuff youll need to do it, and in the end youll have a heavy, slow V6 Civic.

and in the end ill have my B series swapped civic still to.

plus its all B this and B that, yeah it will be more heavy but it puts out the torque to pull its weight.

you wont find alot of info on this b/c nobody bothers to do it, way to much work and money for an engine that was not even close to being meant for an EG chassis.

If you want lots of NA torque, have deep pockets and dont mind spending lots of time on a project car then you'd be way better off swapping a K24A2 from the TSX. 2.4L will move an EG chassis pretty good since it meant for the TSX and a TSX is alot heavier then an EG.

umm a J35A1 puts out 210hp at 229 tq and 166tq out of a k24, oh and thats why hasport has mounts coming out for the EG ($650) you dont have to cut anything but the passenger mount just as if you are doing a K or H series, and i dont care about the weight or best bang for the buck. plus people will not be expecting that sound out of a civic....:p

So i heard hasport now will be making the mounts, and they also will be making wiring, and axles for this swap but it wont be out until october 08 sometime.
also been doing some homework and it sounds like i can take the J32 CL-S heads and it supposed to have better flowing intake and exhaust with a more aggressive cam too.

He is not looking to buy an engine he said he has the v6 already... Plus as everyone has said not many people have done it so no telling how it will turn out if he does it right! May be heavier may even perform like shit but sometimes it is about customization not performance! Sometimes its a bigger pay off just to be different! Keep us posted on this build man!

There are smarter ways to get that amount of TQ if thats what you need, but hey its your car so good luck with it.

Regardless of how dumb his idea might sound, i think it would be interesting. To each his own. Its his time and his money. I say let him, and at least give me any useful information you may have. I laugh at alot of other peoples choice in customization (cough sunfire), but im sure some do the same to me.

Good luck, i wish i could help but im still an amateur. I know nothing past your average B engine.

Ha ha ya, i dont think a hatch would be the right car for it, prelude maybe but like many have said the chassis arnt made for it. My daytona wasent that big of a car and it carried both the 2.2's and 3.0 V6 without a problem, but the 3.0 i had was too heavy for the power it made, i suppose the odyessey makes more power. But a hatch would be too dangerous.

see im not saying going D or B isnt bad but i own a B series and i love it, but since i have a motor just laying around, just why not, its kinda like the ls1 ek, WHY NOT.

heres a video of a 3.2 type s in a EK it ran 12.4 in the 1/4 with Intake and exhaust, thats pretty damn good for a basic bolt ons car.
YouTube - Type S V6 Civic

i should get all little more power out of it than that guy, because i will try to get the type s head for the J35 block so ill have a 3.5 Type s..:D

If you need to be that different, do it. I'll spend $1500 on turbo'ing my Z6 and be faster in both a straight line and through turns. :)

Having that much weight in the front of the car is going to make it handle like shit anywhere other than a straight line.

but 12.4 out of a J32 EK with I/E , i dont think you could JUST turbo a stock D16 and run that, but the swap is twice the price as turboing a D16 so, i just think it would be a fun car to have. nothing super bad ass other than its a v6 civic.

but neather a K20 nor a H22 where ment for the EG chassie.
the J35 is 300 lbs. motor only though after everything is done maybe 500 lbs. which is alot still.

Blanco man, nice lump from the ban stick...

But hey, I think it's a cool swap. If you don't do the swap, someone else will. If you have the ability to just own a bunch of cool cars, I say do it. It's not like there is a shortage of EG chassies and such...

I wish you luck! Hope to see this frankenstein develop.

I am just saying its not safe and its hard to make it safe, getting the right suspension to compensate for the weight and such. I had a guy in high school who stuffed a small block V8 into a chevette. It worked but the frame started to twist and bend after a bit, he eventually scraped it. I have nothing against this swap i just say know what your doing before you do it.
