I have had this problem with other Honda's in the past but right now I am working with a 94 civic ex and in order to start it I have to turn the key to the on position with all the dash lights on then when I hear the click I crank the motor and it starts. If I don't do it this way it will not start and acts like it is not getting any fuel.

Any Ideas???

yeah the fuel pump needs to do its thing before you can start the car. the main relay tells the fuel pump to do its thing. if the main relay or the fuel pump aren't functioning at 100% you have to wait for the click or replace the parts ;).

Thanks DaCheat.

Where is the main relay at? Maybe on the kick panel drivers side? What does it look like?

Thanks Dacheat. The picture really helped me find it with no problem. Is it just a main relay or a fuel main relay? OK where would you suggest getting this part for cheap? I know I can get it at the dealer, and the salvage yards around me but is there any aftermarket new ones made? Thanks again!

it's called both; if you were ordering it i'd say main fuel relay but confirm the thing they're trying to sell you looks right. check around online, but i don't know of any aftermarket new ones.

glad the pic helped. :)

Sometimes you can find them at a Napa or Foreign Auto Part for significantly cheaper than a dealership. Might be worth a shot.

Thanks for the ideas guys. FYI, there are several for sale on Ebay. I will also try Napa.

fyi the ones on ebay, unless guaranteed, may have the same issue as the one you're having problems with. :D
