boost controller, new clutch, high flow cat, new exhaust, walbro 255 fuel pump, boost gauge. as far as tuning goes, get a obd2b to obd1 conversion harness, Im assuming this is going on the 99 civic? then get a odb1 p28 chipped and find a local tuner who will tune on crome, uberdata, or turboedit. hondata isnt worth the money unless you have a full built motor running 500hp

So I found this Turbonetics kit for a B16 for $1600. Does this seem like good legit kit? and what else besides like injectors(450 cc) & an ecu upgrade(hondata) would I need to run like 8 psi?

I'm still pretty new to this so any suggestions would be great!!
Thanks.
eBay Motors: CIVIC INTEGRA B16 B18 B20 T3T4 turbo kit w/ turbonetics (item 380058828528 end time Sep-02-08 17:36:09 PDT)

You will need better fittings for the Oil return to the oil pan, you need a P28 OBD1 computer chipped, i recommend Chrome. Also you need a turbo timer so the turbo will last longer unless it is water cool. You will need a OBD2 to OBD1 harness if you have a OBD2 computer. You will also need a Greddy oil extension plate for the oil filter where you have more axcess for oil fittings, and then you will need alot of oter stuff like the right guages A GOOD FUEL with a FUEL REGULATOR and GUAGE and proper vaccum box etc...... alot is involve if you want to do it the right way, by the time you done you will have about a good $3500.00 spent if all parts are new.... Good luck you will enjoy it very much mad power feels great.

k cool, thx guys...I'm actually getting my b16(hmotorsonline) installed next week so hopefully that all goes well and I can started with the turbo. Do you guys recomend I do any internals tho before getting the turbo? Thx.

As from what I found out from my car... If you arent going to build the motor at least add a block gaurd... I feel if I had a block guard in my motor, it may have held up a little longer... 8 psi isn't to great to run on a stock motor so you should be ok

I'd avoid going the block guard route. Because they are pressed in and welded at the top of the sleeve, they prevent cooling where it is needed the most.

Stock b-series sleeves have been proven to 500 whp. How much power are you looking to put down? I'd either run open deck, or go sleeved if you plan on running more than say 350 whp all the time.

yea Iv'e heard that before. my goal is like 270-300 hp. Is that obtainable and reliable with stock internals?

If it is tuned correctly , you do the appropriate "insurance" mods, and if you treat it right then it will be reliable.

k now everyone here has been recomending tuning with chrome, however I talked to this guy at a performance shop and he said that chrome is kinda the cheap way to do things and that hondata is better to use. also the engine im getting (b18c gsr) has the p72 ecu, would I need to get a different one when boosting?
o and 99sidude that ride of yours is bad ass..mad props!

Thanks for the props!

Anyways, chrome is fine for tuning your setup. It can do almost everything that hondata can do. What makes hondata so great is that its easy to use, and its convenient. To make changes all it takes is one usb hookup and 5 seconds to upload a new calibration. With chrome you have to burn a new chip for each tune, and use an emulator to simulate the chip while tuning. If you're a DIY person, and doing street tuning yourself, then i'd go with hondata. If you are gonna pay someone to tune on the dyno then I'd save the money and go with chrome.

You can use the p72; however, what I did is sell my p72 on ebay for $150 and picked up a p28 for $80. Both are just as good for tuning, the price is just high for rare p72's.

Its CROME (sorry, hate it when people do that though).

CROME is the best way to tune IMO. Hondata is indeed a very nice program, but far too expensive for my taste.

i said ditch that turbo kit and piece one yourself...that kit does not seem that great...look at the downpipe no stress coupler??? no good....the size of it looks small enough...everything else looks like a knock off except for the turbo....it will probably come with extra junk you don't know...for that price you can piece your own turbo kit for much less than that and be better than that kit...i'm trust me by piece a turbo kit yourself you will learn much about turbos and spend less cash on things you don't know....as for as tuning and injectors go...if you want the 200-300 hp range use dsm 450cc w/ or wo/ resistors dependent on your car...and tuning..get ecu (moates.net) chip and use crome heck cheaper than hondata and just about as reliable...and if you want 8 psi...no problem with a b series motor( b16/18/20)...good luck ...

Your saying I can piece together name brand "quality" parts for cheaper than the ebay kit? Sry but I beg to differ, buying all those parts separately adds up big time(wastegate, bov, manifold, turbo, downpipe, intercooler, charge piping, misc parts, etc, etc. I mean I know when it comes to boostin that you should not cheap out but I mean as long as I have a quality turbo, decent mani, and intercooler I should be ok right? I was also on planning on upgrading with a better wastegate(tial) and bov(greddy) and of course the downpipe. So what do you think a piece together yourself kit would or should cost me? Thanks.

He is right. You can find the parts for cheap if you just search around and know where to look.

Name brands don't always mean better quality. And new doesn't always mean better, either. You can pick up used parts for a lot cheaper than picking up new ones and they will be just as good. The only pieces you really should be weary about are the turbos and their shaft play, and the intercooler. And people all over the place are selling both of these.

ok so where would you suggest I look? and keep in mind that this is my dd car so reliability is priority #1

Pick your pieces up one at a time. Look around. I'm sure between this site, Craigslist, and junk yards you can come up with a bunch of stuff.

Homemadeturbo.com

That is another site that is full of good info. Just keep your eyes posted for parts that you will need. Do your research on which parts will be best for your application, and start searching for things.
