Hey I have a 97 coupe with a b16a a hondata ecu and many many bolt ons. My car has ran great for 2 years and now im having problems. It seems as though the car is just gradually getting farther and further out of time and its running insanly rich. After the car was tuned I was getting about 36 mpg. Now Im getting around 20 on the highway. Its not so much the mpg im worried about its the loss of power. I havnt pulled the crank pulley yet to check the timing. Simply bc I havnt had and time. Any ideas on where to start?

I couldnt really imagine the car would be coming slowly out of time. Have you changed plugs, wires, or the distributor cap in the 2 years? Are all your injectors still functioning properly? Is the fuel pump still makin the pressure you need?

I changed the plugs last week (ngk), my wires (ngk) are maybe 10 months old, and i changed the cap and rotor about a month ago. The plugs are black. As far as i know my fuel pressure is ok i have a walbro 255 pump stock rail and regulator. Unless maybe the regulator is bad and its building to much pressure. Is it possibe to be in the dist itself.

Do you have a datalog and a tune file?

Attach them and I'll take a look.

I would get an AEM regulator and a pressure gauge. With a 255lph pump your fuel demands at part throttle are not great enough for the factory regulator to keep up. You want to make sure you know what your fuel pressure is and that your regulator is holding it consistantly before you can tune. It only takes a 1-2 psi variance in your pressure to throw you AFR's off.

Dude. He hasn't even given us any actual data, and you've solved the problem and you're telling this guy to buy more stuff? You've got to be kidding me.

lol, whut?

I never said that fuel pressure was the problem. But since everyone was on the topic of it I thought I would give him some useful information. There is not a high demand for fuel at part throttle and the factory fuel regulator has a hard time keeping up on returning it to the tank with a 255. This isnt what I think it is what I know. It will effect your idle and areas of your map at part throttle. Even Endyn came up with a trick for the factory regulator to help with this problem. The AEM regulator still does a better job at holding steady fuel pressure. Here read this article you might learn something yet The Old One - Energy Dynamics : Articles I wouldnt expect someone 3 years younger then me with less then half of my experience to know that! I have tuned and built more cars then you so before you try and act like you know more then me maybe you should do some research young grass hoppa. :)

I already had a regulator and guage on the way. Ill try to datalog. Its something ive never done or even tried yet. I know I can download datalogging from hondata.com. I will not need romeditor4 to datalog correct? Just to tune? And when I datalog I drive my car do I make a pull or two? What kind of fuel pressure should it be running?

Change your O2 sensor. [/thread]

Wow, boosting4fun. People say that I'm a dickhead. You just took first place in the arrogant fucktard category! Congrats.

Thats funny to hear coming from you Blanco you talk more shit then anyone I have encountered on this site. Yeah once in a while I will put someone in their place when they are trying to make me look stupid. Your telling me you wouldnt have posted some dick head comment yourself in my shoes? Ohh wait I already no the answer to that one.

Your best bet is to take it back to the tuner and have him pull up a datalog like everyone said before.

So PM me your calibration and a datalog. I can take a look at it, and try to fix whatever is wrong, if not, I'll be able to point you in the correct direction.
