CRX won't idle after it's warm

USDM to the bone
I've noticed a problem in the last day with my 1989 CRX HF.

I finally got the idle right, and it seems to idle somewhere around 750rpm. I was driving it back from my friends apartment and the car suddenly wouldn't stay idling anymore. If I was driving and pulled up to a stop sign and pressed in the clutch or shifted into neutral, then engine would idle down to about 1000 rpm, then it would idle up to 1500 rpm or so, and then it would drop off to zero and stall.

9 times out of 10, I can just refire it, and it will stay running, but then it idles somewhere around 250 rpm or so... practically stalling.

1 time of 10 it won't fire back up for me. At least not right away. To restart, I just bump it with the clutch if i'm still moving and it usually comes right back. Once I wasn't moving very fast and it wouldn't bump right away, and wouldn't start when i cranked it. I got out popped the hood and sat around for a little bit, and then it refired right away.

Two other times that it's (not refiring) happened, I was moving fast enough that I could keep it in gear and just keep the motor turning over. Eventually (10-15 seconds) of coasting in gear with the motor turning over it will refire.

When it's coasting and not firing, it almost feels like it's bogging because it seems to respond a little to throttle input, but it's like it won't quite take off.

I really have no idea what could be causing this. Maybe running too rich? I the CEL isn't on either.

Did you check your timing?

Cam or ignition?

I believe cam timing is right, but I can double check.

Ignition timing hasn't been changed, but I'll check that when I get home, just to make sure that it's not out of whack.

Fuel flow, too. Maybe it's losing fuel pressure or bad injectors or something. Worth looking into as well.

Cam timing looks right. Set ignition timing. I have a underdrive, so I just set the the timing mark on that between the V. I jumpered the connector inside of the driver's fender.

The car runs great going down the road, so I think that I have the timing right. The injectors sound good, and I don't have a fuel issue any other time, so I'm thinking that it's probably not the fuel system.

How would you suggest checking the injectors or fuel system anyways? I though about just pulling off the fuel rail and try cranking it over and letting them spray into the air and watch for a good cone pattern.

i had this same problem with my girl friends 92 gs. i tryed everything but it would idle down and kill after it wormed up. i tryed everything from a new fuel system to thinking it was fuel injected vaporlock. but what finnally did the trick was the cat was cloged and the computer was confused. all i did was straight pipe it and un plug the battery for 20 mins (re-setting the ecu) and it stoped dying and idleing funny. i'll let you be the judge but it was an easy fix

all the suggestions are good but also check your distributor.my crx idles at 1000 rpm when warm but never stalls but i moved my distributor and its very quiet when warm,i sometimes think it shut off.check the distributor and move if neccesary thats what i did and it worked, but thats just an opinion!!

Moving the distributor=ignition timing. Just adjust it to stock.

Has it thrown any codes? Also, it only idles well when cold?
