Hi all,

I own a 1997 Civic EX Coupe that had a d16y8 motor. The block of this motor broke down so I'm taking this oportunity to make a little upgrade by building a ZC-D16Y8 mini-me...

I have all the D16Y8 head with the ECU and all the wiring already done. So I think that it should be easier to complete the build with the ZC block and all of its components.

For what I've been reading I need to buy a new D16Y8 headgasket, and make an external tee oil line for the head ... Also I have to take the oil jet line from cilinders 2 and 3 and have the block in top dead point (I'm not so sure if this is writen correctly :D)...

It's that all I need to do????

I'm pretty new at this so I'll really hope you could help me with this.

Thx!!

I had the same car ...

I think you would be more satisfied with the ZC complete Engine ;) But that´s just me :p

it´s a D series DOHC non Vtec with 136bhp Stock ... you would be surprised on its performances ;)

Hi, thanks for answering... but... i made a little mistake... it's not a DOHC ZC engine its a SOHC ZC engine that's why I'm doing the swap with the D16Y8 head.

been out of the game for a while but from what i remember is that the d-series head bolts up just need the head gasket to match the head, the external tee is for the ls/vtec and your zc shouldnt need it, and if i remember correctly the zc pistons with a vtec head has crazy high compression

I just finished the same swap but with a Z6 head on my 91 SI. Just remember to remove the oil jet and get the head gasket for the head you have. It should run fine, in my first gear it pulls like hell.

Hi I got it running pretty good :D!! As Autox 89 said: "in first gear it pulls like hell" haha...

I really recomend this swap

Greetings

what do you mean by remove the oil jet ?

Between cilinders 2 and 3 theres is a hole that is blocked with a little metal cap, that little metal cap is the oil jet, you have to remove it to make the swap...

In my case the ZC SOHC that i bought didn't come with the oil jet, the hole was free so i didn't need to that part of the swap ;)...

Well an image is more than a thousand words
