Hey I have a 92 civic hatch dx and the inside is pretty loud. I mean there is alot of road noise. Is there anything I can do to make it quieter?

yea go buy some dynamat from a audio shop they use it for road noise and to keep stuff from rattling its the same concept or you can go to a auto store and buy the same stuff but a cheaper version. dynamat= 100 dollars auto store= 40 dollars its up to how good of quality you want.

Where is the best place to put it? Like below the dash across the firewall? How much can I expect it to help? Thanks.

now, plan on your car being heavier after Dynamating the car

Put it where ever you can. Under carpet, under plastic panels, where ever. Just keep it away from heat sources, and be careful around wires.

Could always put bedliner on the inside of your car. Not only will it reduce sound, but it will make it waterproof...

I heard of usin that DIY bed liner, but I never knew if it actually worked or not.

I'm sure it would take a little prepping (cleaning, removal of seats, tracks, carpet, etc.), but I dont' think it would be much more than dynomat.

My brother works in a customs shop and he dynomats cars. People come in and drop $1000 to have their car done, but it's wonders for the sound system, and I assume it works just as well for outside noise.

I doubt dynamat would help with outside noise, especially noise coming through the windows. IMO, your best bet is to have your car stripped of all it's weather stripping and redone with the newer, better quality stuff they put on newer cars like the vw's, audi's, bmw's, ect...

actually its a proven fact that it helps outside noise and you would put it where ever the most noise is coming from and in ur doors do not put on the firewall.just put it behind panels and stuff like that.

pull out the dash, seats, carpet, and headliner. Dynamat everything in sight.

I had a 92 civic that had that done to it, even inside the rear fenders. sounded almost cadillac like rolling down the road.

i like the earplugs idea, but if you wanted to still have music..wear them big ass head phones plugged into an oldschool portable CD player

Shit if your on a budget just go to Good Will and pick up some old throw rugs. Then go get some spray adhesive. Then all you gotta do is cut the rugs to the shape you need, spray em down and stick em on. Just like Dynamat, but cheaper.

Ahaha, that'd be so ghetto.

Its not necessary to dynamat your whole car, do behind the door panels, the trunk/hatch and it should be fine. Expandable foam goes a long way too.

If you need to go cheap get carpet pad and put under your carpet. That dynomat is heavy. "just a thought"

Do you want a quiet cruiser or a quick car that is loud as hell? There are choices to be made here.

Also, Close up the body gaps as much as possible. Adjust the doors, fender, and hood and get those gaps as small as possible. Less wind noise. And be sure to slap a big chunk of dynamat on the strut towers.. lots of road noise to be absorbed there.
