I'm trying to help my friend find a car for $2k or under.

Obviously I've already recommended a Honda, but can you guys suggest anything else?

He's looking for something that's fairly reliable, somewhat easy to work on, easy to find parts for, gets 30mpg or better, and is somewhat modifiable.

Just cars no trucks.

Thanks

An older tercel. I forget what the one we have is 94 I'm pretty sure, but an entire rebuild kit was 200 bucks off ebay. Pistons and acc, oil pump, gaskets. Simple ass motor. Hell, I'll be tracking the rebuild with pictures to prove its quality when I get to it in the next few weeks(hopefully). I can prove how simple it is lol.

Is he looking more towards the import side or domestic side? How much money does he want to put into it, or what does he eventually want to do with the car? The options are endless, really.

Older Sentra's
Older Altima's
Any of the Honda/Acura line
Older Corolla's
Older VW's (late 80's Jetta/Passat, Golf, Rabbit)
Older Celica's

They don't look too bad if you put some money into them either.

In today's world, he wants a 30+ mpg car for less than 2k ?

Does he need a Unicorn trailer ?

I hate to say it, but you can probably find Cavaliers all day long for 2 grand. Shit, you can find Cavaliers that are around 5 years old for about 5 grand, so I'm sure you can get a 97-99ish one for a lot less then that...

It's a good place to start. But judging a book by it's cover, I'd say that thing has been beat to shit.

1991 hand? lol

if the guy can't even make a for sale post correct, do you think he changed the oil correctly?

4 door EF's you can, not EGs. Not in my area at least.

Yea, we've been over how gay Miata's are before. But honestly who cares? It's black at least. He likes it so that's all that really matters. It'll be good for autocrossing too, which he wants to do with me.
