i heard a couple sampler tracks from it.

honestly, i don't even care if its good or not.

fuck lars.

I would say while it's roughly 5% St Anger, and 20% reload, it's 75% and justice for all and I never expected to get that out of them again. I'm very happy!

I say "meh". It's a definite improvement over St. Anger, but not quite as epic as I had hoped. I really like some of the tracks, but others I didn't care for so much...

I think the anger over Metallica's sound is largely overplayed.

If you listen to "Kill em All" and then listen to "And Justice for All", you'll find very different sounds. But nobody talks about that. Those albums are lumped into the "Big Four"

Kill Em
Lightning
Puppets
Justice

Then you have the Stadium Album

Black

Then the Load Period

Load
Relaod
S&M

Then St Anger which was the musical equivalent of group theropy. Had the band just taken a year off to deal with issues we could have forgone it, but NOOOOOO, they had to share it with us musically. Not a fan of St Anger (except for the "Unnamed Feeling" & "Sweet Amber"), but I recognize that had they not made it they might never made another album. So I can live with it.

But all their stuff is slightly differnt and honestly, that's why we still talk about them

Slayer is an excellent Thrash/Speed Metal mand. You know why we aren't talking about Slayer? CAUSE IT ALL SOUNDS EXACTLY THE FUCKING SAME

there are other things to take into consideration. People bemoan Hetfield's new vocal style (more singing less screaming), but fail to know that Hetfield blew out his voice box in 91, etc etc

I think my old friend Bob Rains said it best

"Fuck man, Metallica could put out a Rap album and I'd buy it"

:withstupid:
I felt the exact way about St. Anger even. I don't care what anyone says, Sweet Amber is a great song. Overall the album wasn't very good though.

On to the new one, Suicide and Redemption is a great instrumental, which they desperately needed to do again. As cheesy as it is to have sequels to songs, The Unforgiven III is a fantastic song both lyrically and musically. Great, fast songs like The Judas Kiss and That Was Just Your Life are the bread and butter. The End of the Line is the only "meh" song on this album IMO.

Agreed. I can't listen to their music since the Napster bullshit.

Yeah, honestly, and I'll probably get crucified for saying this, I really don't mind St. Anger. Yeah, it's not a great Metallica album when compared to their others, but I don't think it was that awful. Sweet Amber and Some Kind of Monster kick ass; I really don't know how anyone could say otherwise...

I think the St. Anger album was good, the only thing I have to say about it is the drums are very heavy (loud) through out the album. I love 90% + of all their stuff they have ever put out. :dunno:

x2 I think their music sucks now but im willing to give this album a shot since it could contain old school goodness.

torrents and flac ftmfw

this is an album i may actually buy...i feel its worth the money. good job metallica.

$9.99 @ target

Meh, that might be worth it, I dunno. Yeah I saw that commercial on TV. I was a bit surprised to see the Target logo pop up at the end. Seems like a bit of a sell out...but then again, we are talking about the band that nearly single-handedly shut down Napster...

no, its more like

"i don't like you any more because your rich ass sued 13 yr old kids"
And it wasn't about the money newly signed bands, who don't make much, weren't getting either. It was about the money he wasn't getting and had to get a smaller version of his stone pool and grotto in his 3rd house.
