So I just ordered the sk2 megapower 60mm catback exhaust for my gsr civic. I was just curious to see who has this set-up and their feedback on it? How loud is it? How much in performance gains? Also would you recommend a header? Keep in mind sound is issue for me, I dont like the rice rocket noise ^_^ Any suggestions would be great!!! Thx
 
Go on youtube and look up exhaust clips for the type of exhaust. I thought the skunk 2 exhaust was supposed to be really loud, correct me if I'm wrong.
 
Yea I did and they vary in sound, bet yet to find one thats a gsr with skunk. It does come with a silencer and Iv'e heard that it makes a big difference in sound without taking away hp gains.
 
I have this exhaust on my supercharged gsr civic. Checkout some videos of my car in the link in my signature. I have a stock header with a test pipe and it is very loud. My friends can hear the car when its 2 miles away and I'm in the throttle. The key to keeping it quiet is to retain the catalytic converter.

I tried using the silencer, and while it did reduce noise enormously, it killed power, and IMO looks retarded. In fact, it restricted my exhaust so much that the back pressure sheared off the little retaining screw and shot the silencer out the back. This is due to me being supercharged and having much more exhaust flow.
 
dayyym...aight well yea I'm not plannin on boostin anytime soon so I would be ok with the silencer then I assume... also I shouldnt have any problems with keeping the stock cat on their right?
 
what are you buying this exhaust for?? performance, looks, or sound?

if you want performance, getting rid of the stock cat is necessary. it is a bottleneck and your new exhaust isnt going to help a whole lot with a stock cat still in place. you need to replace the header, cat, and exhaust in order to see any real gains in whp
 
well of course I want performance but seriously I really dont want that rice rocket sound u know... sound it a pretty important factor for me as well

I did the same, by going on youtube and looking at exhaust clips until i found a sound i like. I found the HKS and i love it, doesnt sound all raspy and ricey. Sounds like the S2k from 2F 2F. It is loud enough but not annoying loud. Im sure the Skunk one isnt far off. you wont see much of a gain as mdps said, you need to at least put larger pipe in. The only way you know how loud is to install it, if its too loud get the silencer.
 
yea it comes with the silencer so I'm not to worried and I'm sure in the future as I do addtional mods and increase in hp the sound will become deeper and fuller
 
going to a test pipe from a cat on a close to stock engine is going to net maybe 2 hp. It's not worth it IMO. Its going to be much louder, and not pass smog.
 
Like I said, if you keep your cat, it will be fine!
 
If you're not doing any forced induction, don't bother getting an exhaust yet.

If you're planning on doing forced induction, wait until you are doing forced induction to get your exhaust.

Thx BrutalB83 for that "very" helpful input :rolleyes: I did get other opinions before I bought the exhaust, I was just tryin to get some more input as far as what to expect with the sound and whether or not to keep the stock cat on and use the silencer. O and I will be doing some f/i in the future with a ZEX wet kit.
