EK Swappa
So I'm currently getting my gsr swaped in right now and figured it would be a good idea while they've got the motor out to build it up a bit. I was considering of course the basics: intake, gates timing belt, alt. belt, spark plugs/wires, and new water pump. Now I was also looking at these sk2 cam gears and was wondering if this would be a good upgrade to start with? Now as far future mods, Iv'e already ordered an sk2 60mm catback and plan to install a ZEX wet nitrous kit (75 hp). What else as far as engine mods would be a good idea to get? Any suggestions welcome!! Thx.

Get OEM Honda stuff as far as your belts, spark plug wires, and water pump. You need to run a colder plug since you will be running nitrous. One step colder plugs would be B18/a/b spark plugs. Go NGK for the spark plugs. I beleive the part number is bkr6e. If you wanna go two steps colder, the part number is bkr7e. Also, just get the regular copper or platinum plugs.

Don't listen to those two retards. And yes I called you guys retards.

First off, NOS is a company, he said he's getting ZEX. You don't call nitrous NOS, this isn't Fast and The Furious. I bet you think 'NOS' isn't as safe as boost huh...

And to the other guy - Why would he have 'no need' for nitrous? That's like saying you don't need good brakes unless you autocross...

whoa buddy. was just making a suggestion. jeesus...and as for NOS. just like boost as a term for turbo, its a term for nitrous. zex, nitrous oxide systems (NOS), its all the same. laughy gas. you must think because of my low post count im an idiot. i will say im still learnin cars but ive been rebuilding engines since i was 10. boost, "nos" it doesnt matter all your money spent on parts is nothing without a tune. not here to bicker just dont appreciate negative comments when all i was doing was what the OP asked for...suggestions. have a good day.

he asked for suggestion on his parts, not should he not use nitrous... when NOS means Nitrous Oxide Systems, a certain company, calling every nitrous kit 'NOS' is wrong. And boost doesn't mean turbo, it means boost. Superchargers make you boost also... so what do we call supercharged now?

oh and for the record, i didn't call you a retard personally, just what you said/suggested. don't take it personal :)

Now now take it easy ladies lol...But thx all you guys for the input. O and this is my dd car, not a track car. I orginally had planned on going with turbo but Iv'e decided it would be just to dam expensive :(. B16Racer is right tho that using "n2o" is just as safe as turbocharging as long as its setup and used correctly. Also I had planned on going with no more than a 75hp shot cuz of having just stock internals for now. So I figured that would be about 2 or 3 degrees of retarding the timing right?

Personally nitrous system in a DD doesnt seem practical to me, temporary injectable horse power should be reserved for the track, strip or autoX and not the street. Cops frown on it and its illegal in most places. Think about it, a cop pulls you over and asks "What are you planning to do with that hooked up nitrous downtown? Donating to a dentist office i hope?..... Step out of the car sir." Doesnt look too great on you, pretty well means your street racing or planning to. In my province its illegal to have nitrous "connected" unless at a track/strip.

As for the cam gears they are a little lighter and adjustable (obviously) so it will be a help. Works even better with cams.

Ok for the fucker that has to be so literate about everything. The Zex or w\e bullshit is very pointless unless its NOT a dd there is no use for zex in a dd that is just going to get you tickets and most likely sent to court for papers saying you need to have it removed which just happened to my buddy with his 150 shot and his bottle was empty and not even connected just looks.Save the money and not buy zex and put it towards a good tune or something.

yeah just funny you say that because my friend just got pulled over for going 15 over in his camaro because his speedo was out and they saw a unhooked bottle mounted behind his seats and he showed them that it was empty and still got in plenty of trouble*ticket wise*The cops told us that the only way a nitrous bottle can be legal in the car is if you make a custom box that it that cant be considered in the car.So only a certain amount of cars will pass with a bottle an not get a ticket.

Ya thats what i figured. But you could also say " I use my nitrous to cool drinks for all the babes and attractive police officers that may come my way, like you sir. Martini? Whiskey sour? Bahama mama?"

lol yeah better hope you get a cop with some humor otherwise if you said that oh wow id love to see the feedback lol.

You're in Canada. You guys have different laws. Throughout the entire United States, it's perfectly LEGAL to have nitrous in your car.

Under United States federal law, possession of nitrous oxide is legal and is not subject to DEA purview. It is, however, regulated by the Food and Drug Administration under the Food Drug and Cosmetics Act. Prosecution is possible under its "misbranding" clauses, prohibiting the sale or distribution of nitrous oxide for the purpose of human consumption (the recreational drug use market). Given the necessity of proving intent of either buyer or seller in this case, though, such prosecution are rare

However, the laws for having it in your car and hooked up to your engine vary by state.

The cops bullshitted your friend and they won. refer to what I quoted above.

Nitrous oxide injection systems for automobiles are usually legal, although some localities require certified system components. There have been reported instances of police officers arresting drivers of vehicles equipped with N2O injection systems on the grounds that he or she intends to inhale it, although such auto-grade N2O is often mixed with about 100 ppm sulfur dioxide, which makes inhalation a noxious or even fatal affair.

Like I said before, the laws vary by state. So to just come out and say 'it's illegal' is wrong and completely ignorant. Here in Cali, as long as the bottle is disconnected from the main line, it's legal.

Nitrous oxide (NOS) explained

Now i'm not saying they couldn't try to nail you for other charges for the nitrous but like I said, when the kit is legitly(sp?) hooked up to your motor, in most states it's completely fine.

Now back to having nitrous on a DD... So why is it ok for DD cars to have turbo or supercharger but not nitrous? I agree, it should be saved for the track but do you expect this kid to install the kit every time he goes to the track and uninstall it when he gets home? If that's the case, go tell everyone to rip their supercharger and turbo off everytime they leave the track and arrive at home...

Like you said, state to state. I never said it was illegal everywhere, just in some places. Probably in other countries as well.

I wasn't saying you did. I was just bringing that point up.

As it is a good point. But think about how they think seeing it. If i saw someone with one hooked up id ask if you are street racing or going to a track, and i hope you have a fire extinguisher.

You could say the EXACT same thing for turbo or supercharger so IMO that's a moot point. And fire extinguisher? For what? Nitrous isn't flammable...

I always see people who have nitrous in their cars have them. Safety precaution? Paranoia? i Dont know much about nitrous, i assume something could go wrong.

Aight well as far wanting nitrous on my dd over having a turbo or supercharger $$$$$$$$$$$ I just want it for when ive got the urge to just go a little faster, and I prob will hit the tracks up every once in while. O and back to the nitrous being illegal thing, the bottle would be mounted in the trunk so how the hell would the cop know I have it?? Iv'e been pulled over many times for speeding and no cop has ever asked me to pop the trunk to look for nitrous lol
