CANT find this noise...... help please

ok this sound is driving me crazy...
first it started on my way home in stop and go traffic... sounded like a stealth or saturn with no oil...(n e one that heard them, knows how loud...)
I got home and checked oil it was fine.....
Decided it was time to do a valve adjustement.. Next morning I did. On a cold motor...

On start up the valvetrain was noticeably more quiet... After a minute or so, not fully warmed up. the noise came back ...

So the next morning I did my valves again... they were all good still....

same situation at start up....

This is the weird thing; just stting in neutral when the engine is reved the noise only occurs between 2300 and 3000 RPM ....

When driving, the noise happens at ANY RPM, IF AND ONLY IF the throttle is less than 25% ( was watching my VAFC). If the throttle is wide open or above 50% the noise only comes at 3700 RPM and up and is noticeably softer....

PLEASE HELP ME!! This is a B17a1 and I really wanna take good care of it...

I had the same noise, and it only happened at certain RPM's it turned out to be a clogged cat. Sort of sounded like it was coming from engine too. hopefully that's your problem, bc it's an easy fix. If not, well =(

Do you lose power when driving?

That would be my guess too, and thats a B18 GS-R, not the 1.7.

I have not noticed a power loss... I will check the cat tommorow... Thanks...

BTW Yes it is the 1.7 B17a1 it has a p72 2000 gsr head though....
