i have the d15b1 and was wanting to get a 5 speed cable tranny....would this just be a direct swap?

Yes, as long as you get another D-series trans. Oh and I had a D15b1, slowest engine maybe you should swap that paperweight as well.

well right now i just want to keep the motor because i am just using it as every day driving but i would like to have the 5 speed for the highway driving

yep..just use the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate from the 5speed as well

yeah i was probably going to get a new 5 speed clutch and get the fly wheel resurfaced but what about the axles? i have heard there is different spline count on the 4speed to the 5speed

There is you will have to swap out the hubs out of the 5 speed car as well as the axles.
not true - only the hub end of the axles is different - transmission end of the axles are the same on all of the transmissions except for the ZC - 4 speed axles work in 5 speed transmission with no problems

I'm in agreement - I did the swap on my ED6. The linkages are the same and everything, it was very simple.

The end result ? Not much more. the 4th gear in the 4 spd is higher than 1:1, so you'll get a couple more mph for the rpm, but it won't change your life.

Now adays, I prefer the gearing of the 4 speeds - especially for autocross.

im accully doing the same thing, i gotta 91 dx hatch, im oputting an si tranny in it on wednesday so there is not much or a difference?
