turn the key on and count the flashes

yeah but count the flashes on what?? there is no LED indicator on the ecu, and the CEL stays solid??? so thats why im wonderin how im suppose to read the codes.

i thought you said it HAD the light and you didnt know how to read it. wow thats my bad. from what i've read thus far it seems people are saying to jump the D4 ecu pin to ground, and it makes the ecu start spilling out codes by flashing the cel light.

heres the obd1 codes btw.

alright there is no wire behind the glove box that i can find. now can anyone be sure about jumpin the d4 to a ground?? i just dont wanna do it and fry something in the car. if anyone can vouch for it ill try it out or if you are totally sure that it works. thanks.

It should be on the far right side by the glove box, above the kick panel, assuming you have the switch. On some chassis it seems that this 2 prong connector is actually in the engine bay. Possibly by your driver side shock tower, or motor mount area.

If you can't find a plug to use, like i said you can just jump D4 to a ground. I haven't personally done this, but others have.

alright. if i cant find the jumper plug i will ground out the d4 than. thank you very much for the help!!

ok not to sound like an asshole now but which plug is the D plug?? it only has three plugs in the back of the ecu which i though was A, B, C?? and i found the plug by my shock tower jumped it and the CEL stayed solid??? does it have to be started or should it throw codes with the key just in the on position???

i realize this isnt for your ecu but you get the idea. the connectors are A,B, and D.

GSR/ B16A OBD1 ECU pin out

As far as reading the code like i said i haven't had to do it so i'm not certain. you would either have the car in the on position and jump the connector. or possibly you leave the car off, and then turn it to on with the connector already jumped. i'm not entirely sure.

ok now im confused. do i do the d4 on the jumper harness or the d4 on the stock harness??? and if its the one on the stock harness no wire goes to the ecu from the d4 plug?? if some one has a pick or anything that would be great. thanks again.

not a dumb question, this in fact is a very common question that i hear from my friends ON A DAILY BASIS, so dont feel dumb for asking lol

why thank you. its just i have played obd0 and messed with wiring stuff but this whole obd0 to obd1 is a little confusing. plus i dont understand why the kid wired and obd0 engine obd1?? it just dont make sense.

nah he said that it was obd0 and he wired it obd1. plus he hacked alot of shit up. actually im not sure if he did but its pretty hacked up!!! still dont get it. i might just get a dx wiring harness obd0 dizzy and resistor box ecu and just go back obd0
