Anyone want to recommend a quality tire pressure gauge? Right now I'm just using one of those that has the thing that pops out the end. It has increments of 1 psi up to 50 psi. I've heard these types aren't very accurate though.

What do you trust more, mechanical workings, or computers?

They have digital gauges... but I'm skeptical the sensor will wear out or will show incorrect readings.

I continue to use one of those your talking about and let physics tell me. If you really really wanted to be sure, go nab like 2 or 3 different brands of those and check the psi with each.

That's not bad, do you know what it's accurate to? +- 0.5 psi/+- 1 psi?

I don't know. I do know that when I used to used it, it was never off any of the other gauges that were in the shop.

Mine currently sits in a box in the garage. I don't use it any more.

i just use the cheesy Accu-Gauge dial ones with the bleeder vavle from Autozone or wherever. they read accurately enough for me... im not so concerned that the pressure they read is accurate within .0001% of actual PSI in the tire as i am of the gauge reading consistantly. i keep one in each of my cars and only use that gauge to check and adjust my pressures for that car. as long as i know that on that specific gauge 40psi front and 37psi rear or whatever (varies by car and tire) gives me correct pressure for a full contact patch with no roll over on hard corners im good

I use a Monkey Grip gauge that I got at Schucks, and I like it. Its got a dial gauge and a bleeder. I like reading the dial gauge better, but thats just my personal prefference. I keep using it for the same reason E uses his, its super consistant. If I get an erratic reading Im sure that its the tire and not my gauge.

Ive always used the pop out kind and have never not trusted the accuracy of it, I am a little weary of the digital gauges though.

i use and hate the cheapo 'turkey's done' style gauge; maybe because i'm a little bit OCD and i end up checking each tire 5 times and throw out the two lowest readings, and average the other three :D

i've been wondering what the hell kind of gauge would do any better, so i'm glad you asked, chaz!

I was reading about just how big of a difference tire pressures can make in the performance of your tires if they're off by a few psi so I figured here would be a good place to ask.

I'm planning on ordering this one here pretty soon, thanks for recommending it George777.

TPGF60, Tire Pressure Gauge, with Hose, Dial-Type, 5 to 60 psi

I got one off the Snap-On truck a few years ago.

Yeah, for a tire gauge, it's more than a normal person would/should spend, but it's got the warranty and I trust it's accuracy. Hasn't failed me yet.

About the best style you can get. Mine is the same, but without the hose. Holds pressure until you hit the release valve. No re-sealing for another reading, easy bleeding. Good stuff.

Yay just ordered the snap-on tire gauge. George777 was going to sell me his, but it ended up being broken for some reason. Good luck with getting yours replaced George.

Thanks man. I guess now I will get the experience of seeing what the replacement/exchange procedures are with Snap-On.

Step 1: Call truck
Step 2: Say "this shit is busted!"
Step 3: .......
Step 4: Profit!

Really, snap on usually replaces tools on the spot, free, no questions asked.

I just gotta find out when one will be in the area.

Do I have to provide a receipt or something? Or as long as it's Snap-On, it's covered?

Not meaning to threadjack...Sorry man.

ok well looks like i'll pick up one of those this fall then - thanks everyone for the opinions, and to chaz for askin!

Definitely recommend it. It has a nice weight, and it works well. How's trying to get yours replaced going George777?

Honestly, I haven't even attempted yet. I started working the graveyard shift last week, and haven't had a chance to find out who/where to contact. Once I find out, I will let you know.

Good to see that you like it. It's a little more expensive than most average people would spend, but in the long run, it will pay off...
