so i think it's about time for me to upgrade my suspension but i don't know much about the brand names. i'll take any advice you can give me.
info: i drive a 95 civic hatch. completely stock suspension
budget: 500-600
reasons: i DO NOT want to take my car to the track. i want overall appearance and handling in daily driving situations. i'm looking for about an inch and a half drop i think. i don't really know what that looks like if someone could maybe send me a picture i just don't wanna go to low. i researched this site and read that coilovers are unecessary for my uses and a bouncy ride so i guess i want springs. i actually would like springs, struts and shocks. please help..........

Shocks are the springs and struts together, such as a shock absorber. struts are aka dampers.

Tein Tech-S springs, or Eibach springs will be fine. I found my Tech-S springs on ebay for like 130 new or something cheap like that. ~1.5" drop. I can show u pics of my EJ8 now lowered if you like.

For dampers I would go with some Tokico Illuminas, or some entry level Koni's. I could also say Tokico blues, but some people think they don't work with a lowered car, others say they do. But you've got enough cash that you may as well just get the Illuminas which have some firmness adjustability and may help you make it more comfortable for your tastes.

Good sites to buy from:
modacar.com
inlinefour.com
heeltoeauto.com
passwordjdm.com

That should do ya.

yeah i read that the illuminas were great. i'd love to see a picture of the drop. i guess i'll just go with the illuminas and some tein's. what is the camber wear on tires with a 1.5inch drop?

Not sure about the camber wear. I picked up front and rear camber kits along with my suspension (I went with buddyclub front and rear). From what others have said, the tire wear is acceptable.

damn dude i like that. thats all i need. PHB (project hatch black) is gonna be looking crispy sittin a little lower. i read on this site that most hondas don't really need rear camber kits. just front. you ever heard that?

Well as you can see in the pic, the rear did drop more than the front. And the natural angle of your wheel goes to negative camber as you lower it. But I don't know.

If it was me, I'd either buy them now, as a luxury, front and rear (may as well not skimp) and then have the ability to fine tune it, or lower it and wait to see how the tire wear is, then get them where appropriate.

I think mine were like 180 and 120.

Now, I plan to hit the track with mine on occasion too, that's why I wanted the adjustability; increase the negative camber for better cornering.

looks like it's going to be the illuminas and some eibach sportlines. thats a 1.8 drop.

419 for the struts. 189 for the springs. i'm stoked man. i need to get a camber kit i suppose. those sound difficult to install but i guess it's necessary.

Cool not bad not bad.

I'm not sure how hard a camber kit is to install on an EG. On mine it was a breeze. It makes installing the front shocks much easier. Your hardest obstacle to over come will be rusted bolts. My 2000 had a bunch. Maybe your climate is better than ours though. I literally had to cut some bolts and nuts away, and some bolts just snapped in half trying to remove them.

Who is doing the labor?

I just bought the sportlines from Modacar was 220 shipped to my door. I had the Aluminas and I also had KYB AGX's I liked the KYBs better there only $89 each at summit racing

im doing most of it. my brother is a mechanic so he's going to let me use his tools and his lift. thats how it always works out. he lets me use his shit so im not trying to do it on cinderblocks in my driveway.

man i talked to so many people today and i thought about it real hard. i think im going to get adjustable coilovers. i guess height adjustablility would be pretty cool. i'm willing to pay a few hundred more. skunk2?

I like K-sport. They ride pretty damn soft too if you put them on soft. I swear my friends GSR rides nicer on those than my stock Accord. I'm def getting a set for my EF, but you are looking at 780 shipped at lowest for a set.

Oh you mean those coilover sleeve things. I'm not a fan.
