For my ls/vtec what is better all motor or turbo the car is gonig to be a daily driver also
 
All motor is the expensive way to go slow.

If it were me, I would boost it, and get a very good tune.
 
PSI is irrelevant. 10psi on one turbo is different than 10psi on another one. Depends how well your motor was built, too.

Once again, it's all in the tune.

Come up with a desired power goal, and then start building towards that.

You say building a motor is expensive, however you would be surprised how fast the $$$ adds up when boosting, if you do it right anyway. How much hp are you looking to obtain??

you can make more HP turbo than you can NA for the same amount put in..
yea it adds up but n/a will be more expensive to get his HP goal
 
Uh no. You can put together a nice turbo setup for $2k. N/a is the most expensive way to go and will yield you poor results.
 
Name brand quality parts? New? Installing yourself? Tuning? Depending on the route you go, it varies. Also if your looking at obtaining some big hp #'s and want to avoid blowing your sht up, your gonna have to build anyway.

There is no such thing as a stock LSV. It's not a stock motor even though it is built with MOSTLY stock parts. The combos of heads and blocks alone will yield different results, that will yield different tolerances. Not to mention you should always upgrade the rod bolts, head bolts, water pump, and old pump, just to name a few. But these minor upgrades throw "stock" right out the window. You also have to take into consideration the age of donor parts. Some last longer than others simply because of age/mileage.

But, besides all that, stock Honda sleeves shouldn't be pushed over 300hp. What fails before them will depend on how good you built it.

thats the problem,,namebrand quality parts? you dont need name brand..
you can build a junkyard turbo for cheap and it will hold up,
hell get the intercooler and pipes from ebay,get a turbo from the junkyard and have a mani built or buy one from some shop,
as long as you have a goodtune and a healthy motor theres nothing you should worry about
 
Yea thats a way to do it just gotta be careful on what you get... Iv'e got a buddy that did that and the bearings in the turbo he picked up were shot and the dam thing leaked oil like crazy.. but eventually he found a decent one...did the guy that posted this thread jump off a bridge or what? We still dont know what his hp goal is lol

Remember man, there are different definitions of "nice" turbo kits. Some people assume nice is every piece they need to get it to go, regardless of quality.

OP: If you're new to this, and have no idea the parts you need for a COMPLETE turbo kit, you might as well just take it to a shop now, or start your reasearch. It takes a lot of little misc. things to build a turbocharged car reliably.
 
Werd to George. Boost that bitch.

Werd to Slushy. Keep it around 300.

Good luck buildin it without boost and hittin the 300 mark for under 3 g's.
