Today I scored an interview with Honda R&D for a mechanical engineering position that is involved with dealer puchased ascesories. Not the most exciting stuff but still a foot in the door i guess.

We had a career fair today and a couple Honda divisions were there:
Honda R&D - develops new technologies (engines, trans, interiors, ect...)
Honda Manufacturing - builds the civic, civic si, accord, tl, crv, rdx.....
Honda Engineering North America - designs the tooling and machines used to build cars

The jobs that really got my interest was the advanced engine cycle division, reliability testing, and engine manufacturing. Hopefully I will hear back soon. I feel like once I can get into an interview I will be an easy sell just because of my passion and experience with their products.

is this over at the Honda plant in Marysville? if so, thats a HUGE plant! good luck bro

Yup, this is in Marysville. Its crazy how big everything is. All three of these devisions are there, and almost all the Honda's sold in the US are made there.

Honda of Canada builds the Ridgeline, MDX, and Pilot, as well as the civic coupes. Everything else is built in Marysville. According to the recruiter, most of the parts that go into the canadian cars are produced in the united states.

thought so. its over on Honda Parkway just outside of Marysville.

on a side note, what i find odd about Marysville is that there is a pretty good size Lamborghini dealership there just off the highway...and Marysville LOOKS like a small town.

Good luck man.

They were thinking of making a Honda plant near me (40 mins or so away) but i think they scraped it. I am thinking of applying at the local Honda dealer, i know its not crazy but i take my car there for anything and everything, so it would be sweet to get discounts and have experienced people.

A step in is a step forward, just dont mess it up:p.

I should have this in the bag. One of my professors used to work there, and he says I fit the exact bill of the personality they look for in their engineers. Its just that I hope to work in some type of testing environment.

Google Earth Marysville, Ohio and check out all the test tracks they have. Its insane.

I worked at a Delphi r&d/manufacturing plant near Buffalo for awhile. Very good place to be, should give you alot of experience no matter what.

hey if ya do any good there i would ask ya to get someone in there to check out some of my artwork, mostly concept vehicle type stuff and some interiors, they on my myspace check em out

and good luck man i would love to have the opportunity that you've got so dont fuck it up:ph34r:, cuz i will come slap you :D jk jk good luck man

everyone tho seriously check out my shit i drew in paint on me space^_^

Sweet! My Grandfather in-law works as a engineer at Marysville who programs the robots on the assembly line. They pop out 1 car per minute. All day and night.

You're pretty limited in choices nowadays with that mentality.

True, Honda produces most of the vehicles to be sold in country or very close to minimize shipping costs. The only vehicle I can think of that are almost full Japanese (80-90%) is the Fit. It is suprising our Fits come from there as I think there are over 15 plants worldwide producing them, I think. Acura also uses Beaver run in Pa as a test track.
