West West Yall
2, No almost 3 years ago I had no desire for Hondas what so ever. A '66 Mustang was sitting in our lawn and I was dreaming of the day I could drive it. We moved only 25 miles away from our previous house and my dad had to commute. It was on my birthday, Augest 29, that we were in the city we moved from to pick up some of my buddies. We took a quick stop at a liquor store to pick up a six-pack, then a white '90s Honda caught my dads eye. For sale $1000 obo on the side it said. The body was mint, no rust, no dents. Then my dad said "What do ya think?" I wanted to say are you out of your god dammed mind! But I said thats nice. Then he said "You know you're uncle had one of these. He put some work into the motor and no muscle car could touch it." I thought he was B.S.ing me. He ended up getting it for $800 without the gay big rims from some kid.

Yeah thats me.

He commuted in it for about 3-4 months and loved the handleing, gas mileage but wanted a bit more power. He found a 1989 Civic Si in the paper that hit a ditch but still drove. He picked up that for $350 and trailered it home with intensions of converting the DX to an Si. About a week or two later going to get chains in the snow ironically he hit a ditch and took out the front end.

Desprite to get back into the game he picked up a 1990 Civic CX. By then I was starting to drift away from the domestics. Managing to scoop it up for $750 from a old grandma that had it from new we attempted to drive it home but only made it half way. It barely ran when we got it and it was pretty stupid to try but oh well. We were thinking of swapping out the motor from the crashed DX for a simple fix but then we started tearing apart the motor. When we took the head off we noticed there was half of an intake valve. We sent the head to a machine shop and got a brand new head for $200 and the knowledge of the tearing apart of the D-series motors. What we think happened was that the granny drove the car like a granny, built up carbon then burned a valve. My dad made commuted in it for two months then sold it for $2000.

Then another deal came along. A 1990 Civic DX with a oil burning motor. In a weekend we swapped out the motor for the crashed DX motor since it only had 90,000 miles. We also replaced the carpet for the crashed car, removed the faulty immobilizer, put in a new clutch and re-surfaced the flywheel. My dad sort of lent the car to his co-workers dad for a year then totalled it. Some kid with a brand new 2008 Ford F-350 T boned him. No one was hurt. Just that kids wallet.:laughing1:
The aftermath:

We threw the oil burning motor in with some bardahl:ph34r: and a cooked clutch then the insurance company gave us $1700.:)

Next came my car. 1990 Civic Si automatic.:super: It was a pizza dilevery car that had been previsouly been in an accident. Underneath the paint on the passenger side the pannels were blue, red and gray. It sat for a year and a half because the store went out of buiness. The interior was mint underneath all of the mold, But there was a half-ass paint job. My dad commuted in that for about a year with the automatic then decited to get his own car. Within that time that car improved a lot. First there was no throttle responce. I took off the timing belt and set it all to TDC then set the distributor timing. It was roastin' after that, but the automatic was so pathetic. Over a weekend we pulled out that auto, installed the 1989 crashed Si 5 speed and got it driving nice. It really woke the car up. It felt like it gained 25 HP. After he got his own car (next in line) mine was sitting so I got to work. I did some research, picked up some 1990 Integra tralling arms, booster/master cylinder and prop valve. When I got them in the next day we took around the block with no insurance doing skids left and right. Then I did a full tune-up. The motor now has about 300,000 miles. Then mysterously I got a CEL. I read the code and it said oxygen sensor. I replaced it but no help. I finally found the wire broke so soldered it back togther. Then with the help of eBay I got a full stereo for $500. I also am working on a D16Z6 swap currently. We drove it home for $500.

Then my dad got a 1991 Civic CX for $450 with a connecting rod that went through the block. We put the Si 1.6L motor in with the D15B2 intake manifold in temporarly. He drove that for 3 months. Then another car came along.

Then one of my dads co-workers friends had a 1988 Civic DX that had been sitting for 2-3 years. My dad paid $50 for it. An hour after we got it home I got it running just by putting a new distributor on it. The body was rusted like no other but the motor was gold (90,000 miles). So again we took that motor out and put it in the green car above. Then sold it to my buddies dad for $1500.

Then with a D16A6 left over we found a 1991 Civic Si. Mint interior and exterior and a connecting rod through the block. This one was a no brainer for us. My dad commuted in that for half a year then the timing belt skipped and a valve hit the no.2 piston. Since we are cheap bastards we fixed it the cheap bastard way.:)
We took off the head, took off the oil pan, took out the broken piston (it had a hole in it) replaced it with a piston out of the origional motor then put the head out of the origional motor on.

It now has about 50,000 miles on it since.:D

While my dad was working at some ladys house he spotted a dirty accord. He was able to scoop it up for $1500 and also drove it home. It made been in that ladys family since new. In the glove box there was every service record since new too. With a good wash and wax it sparcled. We sold our gas guzzling V8 Jeep grand Cherokee Limited and now it is our family car. Many trips to the ski hill and every day driving is this cars duty.

Damn. Nice read. I figured this would be a hilarious kill story. I was pleasantly surprised.

Sooo...

What happened to the 66 mustang?
We still have it, we got it for $125 for real. Cut out the rust, got it painted, the interior is gutted but we have every piece and we have a 302 V8 sitting in our garage (inline 6 in it right now). My dad really wants a S2000 so he wants to sell the stang thang as is and get a S2k.

Also: The uncle in the beginning that also had a hatch gave me a grant steering wheel and a ecu.:) When my dad gets his S2k his hatch will be sitting around so I'll take his block and my Z6 head re-build them both maybe with a cam. Tokico Blues shocks/springs. I have the interior the way I want it with a full stereo. I already have a nice brake set-up with Integra discs. And for the exterior I'm keeping it white with a Cool Vanilla of the Chrysler 300, '89 hatch trim and bumpers with the groove in the middle with the groove painted white and hopefully some GSR Blades. Keep it as JDM as I can.:)
