Hey guys, i'm lookin at having about 1500-2000 to spend, after ball joints, brakes, and maybe a ps pump. I have a 92 Accord, and i've been looking at the h22 VTEC. i've seen a few on the internet, and looks like i can pick one up for about that much. here's my scenario; I need a new PS pump, and my clutch is starting to feel a little shifty. it doesn't like to go into gear every now and then. i've seen engines for a little more cash with a new tranny and clutch, and all the dressin's (including the pump). This is my first option. my second option is keeping my F22, with 225k on it, and replacing the ps pump and maybe the clutch. this would allow me to buy all the cosmetic accessories i want, a body kit, carbon fiber hood, spoiler, wheels, and paint. i'm kinda stuck. if i swap, it'll be a sleeper for a while, but it'll have potential and power. i don't know how long it'll take to do, and i cant be out of a car too long. The cosmetic option makes it look nice, but doesn't live up to it's look. i'd like to get some opinions on this. if anyone has done this swap could you tell me what mods need to be done for the engine to drop in. Thanks for reading!!!

H22A OBD1 DOHC VTEC Engine 5 Speed Transmission 92-95 - Tiger Japanese

id buy this, solves all your problems. and as for engine or body kit...you said you need a vehicle. well personnaly id go engine becasue then you know no matter what your cars gunna run. if you just do body and leave your engine in it whos to say a main bearing wont go in a week....or whos to say your rings arnt gunna fry in a month.....cuz then youd be hooped.....i always ask my freinds with the same question.....if you had 3000 dollars and wanted to get a face lift...but also needed a heart pacer...... which would you choose? duh!

i know what ya mean man my cars a real eye sore...1996 cx with some rust on back and dents everywhere.....going to do the body work once i get a new place with a garage....but i am happy that i know my engine is rebuilt and solid as fuck for a D.D

In my opinion there is not a single body kit out there that doesn't look piss ugly on the 90-93 Accords. Just get the engine instead...

I like the r34 body kit. thats my personal preferance. I think i am gonna do the swap though. as i wrote that post, it kinda seemed childish to want the body kit and let my car deliver it's stock 147hp, (that it put out 16 years and 225k ago.

oh man i totally second that one, drop it to the ground cus thats about the best looking things for those accords imo

yeah, was kinda concerned about that. worried about clearance here in ohio, the land of shit roads, but i would like to get a little susp. upgrade. don't need a slam, but a little less body lean would be nice. don't know if i'd have room for the kit though. do want to get it though. don't care too much for the stock bumpers. only thing i don't like about the engine/tranny above is they don't tell how many miles it has.

does anyone know a guy who knows a guy that did this swap? i'd like to know what butchering i'm gonna have to do.

thanks for the guide! skimmed over it and it seems very helpful. any idea what it would cost to build it a little before install?

My best bang for the buck list is as follows:

H23 Crank (95mm stroke)
Modified F23 (141mm) rods (modified for a larger wrist pin)
87.25mm Type S pistons
Adjustable Cam Gears
440cc injectors
H24x Rocket Cams Package (Includes Cams, Springs and Retainers)

Doesnt include bearings, piston rings, or any of the other necessities, but itll probably put you in the higher horsepower rating. That ups your displacement to 2285cc w/ aprox 11.6 compression ratio.

Lightened flywheel and LSD will do a lot to make your car faster.

thanks, i'll look into some prices tonight and figure out if i'm gonna do it. i'd like to give it a little beef, hoping (dreaming) of one day getting a turbo. would it hold up with the factory bearings and rings?

the parts i suggested are NOT good for a turbo setup, and H22s are rarely good performers. If you want a turbo later, keep the f22, its much more accepting.

Well, i've looked over some other opinions, and it seems that the f22 non-vtec would be the best choice to go with, if i wanna run boost, which i could afford if i didn't have to buy the h22. i'd rather run a turbo than not. what kind of hp would i be looking at with a good f22 non vtec setup? how much boost can (or should) i run? my head is kinda spun by this. thought h22 was the best bet for a swap, but it seems that my current motor (f22 n-vtec) is better for my own desires. guess i have to figure those out first.
I want to get a swap. That will reduce my mileage, and give me a longer mechanical life.
I would prefer to run a turbo, just kind of a tuner thing. Don't have the money to build it and boost it right now, so i'm cool with running a low boost.
I don't want an 11 second car. Just something thats gonna free up some space between me and the local domestics (mostly SRT4s and Cavaliers)nothing too threating around here.
Thats all i can think of. Now for the questions...
Should I save up and get a higher stage clutch when i boost?
How much should I boost? And what internals am i lookin at if i do want to build it.
Thats all i can think of right now. it's late and i'm tired. if i think of anything i'll post it later. Sorry if i seem a little ignorant. this is my first build. I'd appreciate any and all suggestions and answers i can get. THANKS FOR PUTTING UP WITH ME!!!!!
