i was wondering if it would be okay to put skunk2 stage1 cams on stock internals and no tuning on a 97 lude with 133,000 miles?all the car has done right now is dc sport headers and exhaust and aem cold air intake. its not much and trying to get alil more hp out of it if i can. would it be worth doing just the cams. any suggestions?

Ive been researching that very same thing lately, also asking about if its ok and yes it is..... if you would have searched my thread would be one of the first. Stock springs and retainers will hold up well, just dont go over your stock rev limit, if you got Type R springs and/or other aftermarket ones you will be able to go higher without valve float. I have the same cams right now, but i will be installing them in spring when i take my car out from winter....... only got a month left before she sleeps :(.

please buy dual valve springs... dont reuse the stock h22 ones

so if i go with skunk2 stage 1 cams i wouldn't have to change any thing else right? i heard that you have to tune it after? i wanna do some thing that ima be able to fell the difference. i talked to some tuning guy n he told me that it aint really worth just doing cams cuz u most likely wont get wat u want out of it. what do u think about skunk2 pro cams?

If you got pro1 you would have to get springs. Get the stage 1 cams, get some adjustable cam gears and get a tune. Thats my plan, if done right you will get a maximum output, ive heard 15-30 HP increase over stock WITH a good tune. Adding other things such as and intake manifold can add almost 10 if not more.... tune tune tune.

what do you want from the car?

how much money are you willing to spend for your goal?

are you racing in any association?

figure out what you would like to end up with and then ask us for help. the worst thing you can do is waste money on parts and then be out classed at an event.

why dont you buy suspension parts? +
an H22 is a great engine with plenty of power. with a good suspension package youre prelude would feel 10x better than with a set of cams

im planing on spending like $2,000-$2,500. i want to get to at least 250hp all motor. i will be racing it alot but also be used as a every day driver. i want to know what do i have to do exactly do to get wat i want? thanks

might wanna double if not triple that budget if you want 250hp N/A

edit.. nevermind, just remembered you had an h22

250 all motor at the wheels is gonna be difficult with that car...i wrote up a part list a while back on this when i had my prelude.

its not easy or cheap to do all motor. you get easier and cheaper if you just go with a turbo setup.

as for your original question. The cams really aren't all that noticeable. The butt dyno isnt going to tell you they are there, the only thing that will is a real dyno or your ETs.

is there any way i can get that part list? i really dont want to go turbo or super charged cuz of the fact that i no nothing about it n i really do think that all motor would be more reliable. wat would be the best thing that i could get or do right now that i can feel a difference in power? is there a such thing as a chip for hondas? i was going to get the lude tuned a couple weeks ago with stock inturnals 4 about $650 but i talked to the guy that was going to do the work for me n told me that it wouldnt be worth it. what do u think? thanks

i cant really speak to that. The only person i've ever known with one was this little douche bag kid at the track that tried to tell me he was running an all motor LS...it also takes some of the fun of building YOUR engine out of it...if thats fun for you of course.

yea ur right..ima stick with it n hopefully i dont end up blowing the motor. ima be doing the work my self. ima be attending college for high performance n thats where ima be rebuilding it n hopefully every thing go's good.
