I just purchased a 98 Civic hatchback with D16y7. I would like to swap the engine out but not sure what to go with. Mayby B16 or something else? I want to use the car for a daily driver and race in the weekends. I have one primary goal and that is to beat my brothers 04 Mazda RX8. Any ideas? Thanks

if you want to beat the RX-8 the GSR is a better route. I barely pull on RX-8s in my S2K and i will eat a B16 hatch alive. I raced an H22R hatch a few months ago and he pulled on me HARD. 9.8 to 9.2 (1/8th...i lost) and he spun through 2nd gear.

how the hell..... i tore rx-8s in a ls swapped crx, and i got WASTED by s2ks....

yeah i dont see that either the s2000 should rape the rx8 hard. i beat them easy but still get it handed to me by a s2000

whats your budget, a 1300 dollar turbo kit will do the job

Im talking about on a track...on the highway when i first got my s2k RX-8s were easy kills. On a track the RX-8 runs about 10.2. I refuse to launch my s2000

I would go with a gsr, depending on your power goals and how deep your pockets are. H22's are a bitch to swap and not so boost friendly becasue of slim cylinder walls from what Iv'e heard. Could always re-sleeve I guess $$$. Gsr in a hatch would be a kickass time attack car. Good luck!

its more the pistons which are unfriendly to everything not just boost. just prone to failure. JUN and Mahle both make pistons for H22s that would help with boost, but as said above, its kind of a pain to get an H into a civic, and its extra $$$ to boost.
