Hi all.

Well, it's been a while since I have had a chance to really log on here and talk to anyone or comment. My plan was to log on here, let you guys that I missed you (well, some of you anyway :D) and update everyone on what's been going on as of late. Needless to say I just found a second to log on and well, here's what's been going on lately...

The past few months have been quite tumultuous. I have been working two jobs since May first and wow, it seems like I barely have any time to breathe nowadays. It's not so bad job wise, since I do like my second job, but wow...it's been really tough to really do anything. Things are bad so yeah, instead of whining about my problem I decided to get a second job and help things out. I've run into a numerous of unfortunate car problems as of late too. My EK hatch has had every single seal, grommet and gasket replaced on it's Y7. I figured that I had better have a reliable daily driver while working on my EG. Well, the rear brakes are shot now and need to be replaced. haha My poor EG is another story. I had just replaced the head gasket a few weeks ago since it kept on overheating and the passengers side CV joint, since I had a spare and this Friday...wow...the unexpected happened.

As I was getting on the 417 (a highway in Florida for all of the non-Floridians) I heard a loud clunk. Mind you I heard this same clunk when coming down my friends driveway and figured it was my suspension. (the suspension is one of the many things that need to be replaced on my EG) Since the rear struts bottom out often I really did not think much of it. When going down the street to the stop sign it clunked again. I looked at my friend and said "since we have to get there, I will just drive it carefully." Not half a mile from the house I get on the off-ramp, pass the toll plaza and sssssssscccccccrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaappppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! My car loses total control and pulls completely to the right. Thank GOD that the express pass lane (or pre-paid tolls lane) is on the right. Otherwise I would have most likely hit the car which was behind me going in the other lane. I end up on the side of the road stunned (at this point I think I may have shit myself just a little bit), looking at my friend, wondering what the fuck just happened. Well, this is what happened....

damn that really sucks man.... looks like someone forgot to put the cotter pin back in

that sucks, but repair wise it's not too bad. maybe 20 bucks for a ball joint and another few bucks for a shop to press it in.

Scary shit man. Glad to hear nothing got seriously messed up. That reminds me I've been hearing a little front suspension noise myself. I better go check it out.

Now mind you that for months since I have been on here I have kept my EG to myself. That is because I wanted it's debut to be a nice one which showed all of the blood, sweat, tears and dedication I have dedicated to it. Needless to say it is not so, unfortunately. I called my insurance company somewhat hesitantly, since I was not sure if this was considered an "accident" and guess what? They got my car towed very quickly and to a tow yard. They should be calling me later on in the afternoon and letting me know how much it is going to cost completely. Thank GOD that I have a $250 deductible. I have picked up a third job with the company that I work for in my second job to help with things so needless to say I speculate I will not be around as much. Hhowever, the next time I am around I hope it is with good news.

To talk about what happend for a second, I really don't think the cars tire was meant to face at a ninety degree angle. haha If you look at the second picture you will notice the obvious, the nut that connects to the stud which holds the...I can't remember it's damn name now...lower control arm...? No? Umm...damn it! I'm having a brain fart. Anywho, chime in and remind me what the stupid thing is called again. My frustration is getting the best of me. To go back to my previous point, the nut is obviously missing and I did not really inspect the stud much to see if the stud had broken or the nut itself was stripped and then put on there.

Needless to say I emplore each and everyone of you to make sure you check your cars yourselves if and when you should have anyone work on them and to double check your own work. I can only imagine what would have happened had I gotten up to highway speeds. I am very thankful to be all right was well as my friend. This could have been a lot worst. There is more that I wanted to say but my mind is drawing a blank now.

Oh, there is something I want to ask. The rims on my EG (which I totally ADORE!) are Rota N1r's. I am wondering if anyone has ever seen them and may know where I can find them. I got these rims around nine years ago and have not been able to locate them since. The bastard that stole my car in 2000 curb checked the shit out of two of them (I curb checked one to hell when I fell asleep on the way home from work one day...oops) and my insurance did not cover that damage. I'm considering taking them off, following Clint's (eg6sir's) write-up and sanding them/polishing them and taking the red off. Anywho, any information would be great.

Take care all. I miss you guys, damn it! Hopefully things will get back to normal and I won't have to work as much within the next few months. Working this much though is going to help out and have a HUGE impact on my paying off parts and finishing my build. *doing the happy dance* Adios for now. :D

i guess you'll do proper maintenance next time. your ball joint snapped.

The ironic part is that I had just picked up my car the week before after getting the headgasket done and I asked for the undercarriage, nuts, bolts and everything in between to be checked and tightened, since I had not driven the car in quite a few months. I have been driving my hatchback up until this point. Needless to say double checking someone elses work is definitely something I will be doing nowadays.

I'm glad I am not the only one that thought that. It is really scary though, Clint, because the engine had been swapped back in November and it had been fine since. Imagine how many chances I have had for this to happen and it just did. I consider myself very lucky.

that sucks, but repair wise it's not too bad. maybe 20 bucks for a ball joint and another few bucks for a shop to press it in.

I'm curious to see what other damage may have been incurred underneath. Not to mention, and you really can't see it well, but look closely at the bumper. That was nicely bent upwards as well.

Scary shit man. Glad to hear nothing got seriously messed up. That reminds me I've been hearing a little front suspension noise myself. I better go check it out.

Definitely man. Check it out and then check it again. I would not wish this on anyone in the world.

that tire is shot now.. nice black marks

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention the thirty some odd foot skid marks that were left by everything dragging. You know Clint, when I drove it the day before I noticed a bit of a shake on the steering wheel. It's kind of like the shake you get when you need an alignment. Well, that is what I was thinking so I was going to take it to my friend by where I live that day and have him check it out and align/rotate the tires. Needless to say I never made it that far.

As far as the tire is concerned, what I figured about the alignment is definitely true, though a moot point right now. There is some negative camber on the tire, which thank God there is none on the rear tires. As soon as I get it back I will check the other side and probably end up having to buy new front tires at least. Such is life. Once again I am just glad no one else got hurt.

ahh.. seen these

17 ROTA N1R WHEELS&RIMS&TIRES 4 LUGS UNIVERSAL

and it necessarily doesnt have to be camber wear.. could be toe

Holy shit, Clint. I'm almost tempted to upgrade. I freakin' love these damn rims, especially after all of the shit I have been through with them.

Yes, you are correct on the toe wear. Camber is what I usually think of first. I'm going to call my insurance soon and see what the heck is going on and how much everything is going to be. I'm really wondering how much damage was done to the undercarriage and transmission. The CV joint was ripped out, though the splines looked good on it.

whoa...thats happened to me twice (in the protege and in the prelude). protege was at 10 miles an hour (ish) turning at a stopsite, and the lude was as i was backing out in the work parking lot (THANK GOD).

Get yourself a new pair of shorts...youve earned them, even if you dont need them.

you could always rock the 17's while your refurb your 16's... :shrug2: ..

Man, I'd rep you if I could right now.

That's a freakin' GENIUS idea. I could put a set on my EG and a set on my EK. haha It might be gay to some but shit, I love those damn rims and they are my cars. If I had the $500 for those I would get them without thinking twice. Shit, I wish I could find the center caps for mine nowadays. All but one have gotten stolen. Go figure.

Damn, twice?!? OUCH! Was it the same thing where the nut came off/perhaps rattle loose? I really feel your pain man. Thank God in your instances and mine we were going very slowly.

As soon as I can afford them I'm getting myself two. haha :D

I also forgot to mention, that is the BEST thing that happened to me this past Friday, so that gives you an idea of how fucked up my luck has been lately.
