ok, so after realizing that the h22 is not the best engine for boost, i think i've got it down, but i'd like opinions. after researching, looks like a good engine to boost is the F22B non-vtec DOHC. has nice flow in the head, and can withstand some boost without building the internals, which i plan on doing. still a little foggy on what internals are good with a turbo and how much boost i should put out. if anyone has any suggestions, drop me a line. Hey thanks!

If you want to boost on a relatively stock engine then you're going to want to keep the boost pretty low, probably under 10 PSI. PSI is relevant to the turbo that you're using though, so there is no one definitive answer on what boost level is best.

As for how to prep the engine, I'd do a leak-down test and make sure the compression is good. Give it a tune-up, maybe replace the head-gasket for good measure. I'd also use ARP hardware. It's good insurance and it's not horribly expensive...

yeah, i'll change the head gasket and tune it up before i swap it in. what kind of mods am i looking at to comfortably run higher boost?

youre right i have actually seen boosted F22B(t) DOHC back while i was on deployment in japan.

After-market sleeves, forged internals, drop the compression ratio, etc. How much boost are you hoping to run? Or better yet, how much power do you want to make?

Well, I was hoping to get somewhere around 250, but that is a pretty big jump. what do you think would be reasonable?

best way to go woud be either use
A. LS vtec setup
B. B20 vtec setup

What is the LS Vtec out of? Found a b20. was a little more than i had hoped. It was out of a type R though.

pay no attention to that. You should be able to hit 250 relativly easily. You will prolly get somewhat close that or right on it with stock internals. Don't forget you will have to upgrade other parts of the car also. You will want an intake and exhaust when you turbo. Also concider tires and suspension and/or lsd to get the power to the ground. Last but most important are some quality break components stopping is always more important then going.

so i should probably upgrade my accessories before I work on boost? nice flowing exhaust and some new legs?

Yeah, guess saftey is a bigger issue. might as well get the engine built and installed first before i start talking mods.
