IMO, McCain didn't do as well in this one. It seemed like Obama had the more solid debate (based upon form); McCain had some awkward moments with questions from the croud IMO. Thoughts?

I think I'm really fuckin' tired of all this bullshit...I have so many other things to worry about that i can't spare the brain space. If I were to meet them in person at the same time, I would say, to quote Lucky Number Slevin "fuck you both".

I find it humors that McCain can get Obama flustered. Tom did a good job at moderating as well, he was was fuckin cracking that whip on the time limits.

I thought McCain did better in this one than the last. Either way, I find the debates pointless as they have no bearing on who I am going to vote for.

McCain is ice cream.
Obama is butter.

Both give me the shits.
Which do i crave the taste of more for the same effect?

we're fucked. i'm 95% sure i won't be voting this time around. not worth the 1.5 mile drive

Fuck the debates, House wasn't on tonight because of that thing :(

neither was Fringe! bastards! :D

yaahhh anyways i watched the debate. kinda. i actually had my back to the tv almost the whole time.

*was forum hopping in Honda swap the whole time it was on*

but pretty much all i heard was all retarded. but the thing i dont like most was the fact that mccain wants to raise the tax credit for dependents (for parents) to 7000 bucks per child.

that is not fair.

and plus with the situation with palin's daughter coupled with maccains child tax credit idea, i think it might send the wrong message to teenagers.

(thinking they should have a kid and that'll help them financially)

i think his logic is fucked

the way i see it, we shouldn't be rewarding people for having children in bulk.
we should reward people who take initiative and got to college or further thei education,
so that when they do have children,
they can support them without some stupid tax credit.

okay i got that out now heres some funnies

Not true, and it's been a conversation starter with girls more than one time even if it is so there :D

You just earned some rep. :)

However back on to the debate itself, Obama owned the night. It wasn't the knockdown dragout fight we were all looking for, but Obama held his ground on McCain's townhall turf. The polls are in Bam's favor, the independants and undecided voters favored him coming out.

Waits for Silver's obligatory 'McCain dominated/I threw (random object) at my TV over not-emtirely-false accusations' post.

The thing I can't believe no one is mentioning about the debates is how they both sucked. Both of them are just politics as usual. I back that statement up by saying that both sides agreed to the rules of the debate before hand, and neither one of them could follow them. Neither candidate could directly answer a question or stick to a topic. They both were very good at going over the alotted time per question, and tieing said questions answer into a rebuttal from the last question or tieing it into a totally unrelated answer. They will both fail this country horribly

Both candidates are sorry sacks of fuck. Niether could answer a question directly, it was disgusting, I got a little vomit in the back of my throat from that crap.

I had to turn it off- the "not answering the question at hand thing" was getting very annoying. And then bouncing back to a previous question because they weren't aloud to rebuttal was also annoying.

I had to laugh so hard last night when a person from the internet audience asked- what sacrifices will americans have to be making here in the future...

for those of you who watch family guy will appreciate this
lois was running for mayor and was losing the debate so she started spouting off shit- and started answering every question with "9/11".

back to obama- he got asked a tough question - a bead of sweat rolled down his brow and he rambled on- about "9/11" . Fucking comedy gold right there.

I wish I had 4 hands...

....so I could give this debate 4 thumbs down

I think McCain has a more solid political foundation. Unfortunately I'm torn between republican ideas and democratic fiscal responsibility. McCain didn't get as easily flustered as Obama, and seemed to almost answer the questions more than Osla..Obama. Because of their non-answers to everything... I don't have faith really in either, and back to Bush and Kerry, the lesser of 2 evils is more appealing to me, as McCain doesn't want any government spending till we get shit under control.
Who the hell knows how it will happen.

Ya, being alienated by your peers and family and having to struggle as a single parent while being legally responsible for another human being for at least 18 years is so totally worth $7,000. Ya, I can see how that changes the whole thing...You seriously think that raising the child tax credit is going to provide an incentive for teen girls to have children because that will HELP them financially? Do you have any idea how much a kid costs? You are still losing out. This will only be an incentive to the poorest of the poor but those people already receive oodles of welfare and free medical care. For everyone else who actually earns an income, this will be a little more cash at the end of the fiscal year but definitely NOT an incentive to have another child. I know it sure as fuck doesn't make me want to become a parent. Ask yourself, if you had the promise of a $7000 credit to your taxes in April, would you take on the responsibility of being a parent? Of course not. So why the fuck would any other rational person. Even the dumbest of high school girls isn't going to think that they should have a baby for a $7000 tax credit. $120,000 maybe. But $7000? YOUR logic is fucked if you think that will happen.

And how is it not fair? Who is it not fair to? What do you want to start handing out $7000 per pet to people without kids. Or $7000 per car to people without pets because we all know, cars can be quite an expense every year. Oh right, we should reward people who take initiative to go to college...Do you know how much fucking federal student loan money I get every year. It's fucking obscene. I'm left with the option of taking an extra $6000 a TRImester above my tuition. I'm not a charity case by any means. The U.S. Government will shell out more than $83 billion this year in student loan money comprising 60% of all student loans in the country. Sounds like they are helping quite a bit as is. And if you mean free help without any payback obligations...they are called grants and scholarships and people who earn them, either through outstanding performance or financial need, get them. Get a fuckin' clue.

You are right, people should be able to support their dependents without a tax credit. I agree fully. But I can't wait to see your principled point of view slip away quietly when it is your turn to collect $7,000 per child at tax time. For many people this is the difference between having to pay in or not at the end of the year. I know you are picturing some white trash family with 17 kids and no ambition but let's be realistic. Those situations are not normal or common and will not all of a sudden become desirable by increasing the child tax credit. Do you want to live that way? Such a measure will effect people with 1, 2, 3, 4 children. The average family size from the last census was 3.14. Also, many people, because of savings, small investments, and the nature of their work and tax schedule end up having to pay in at the end of the year. An increased CTC would alleviate some of this pressure and keep money flowing. Cash flow and liquidity are of primary importance, as we are seeing now.

Was that supposed to be tongue in cheek?

No it means with all the fucked up money situations right now I don't know whether I want to keep the country financially stable and give up freedom to socialism or if I want to keep my freedom and not have all the nice material possessions. (Obviously sarcasm)
I'm sorry a lot of times im not clear on what I'm thinking.
Basically either president is going to make drastic changes, and either president is going to make mistakes. In order for this country to survive, it is not about what our president does up top. Its about how we do down here. Its about whether or not the American people stand up for their rights! Don't let the leader fool you, he WORKS FOR US! WE ARE THE OWNERS OF THIS COUNTRY! People, we need to get along and understand once more America is a nation for the people by the people and of the people. Fuck amendmants and all that bullshit. Constitution.

A resolution of what as humans we so deserve. Fuck oppression. Love life, love people that have life, love yourself.

This ideal is so appealing... the thought of working together to make things better for not just ones' self but everyone. But, human nature fails us. We need to globally expand ourselves from this shell that holds us and realize our minds and imaginations separate us from animals in a way that is unbelievable.
