I have a 97 Civic Coupe with a d16Y7 engine. It has 280,000 miles and a slight internal leak (Head Gasket, I had it tested)

I have never raced, and dont intend to, but I am thinking that I would like a little more kick for everyday driving. But still want the gas milage. I am really torn between what route to go. I am thinking of a B16A complete swap, but I have read that it is a difficult swap and that the B16C is easier, but more expensive.

I should add that I will not be doing the work myself.

What expieriences or advise can you offer for me ?

Thanks in advance !!

A B16 is a B16. One version won't be any more difficult to physically swap in then the other. The issue you should be concerned with is the wiring. In order to make the swap as easy as possible the donor engine should be using the same OBD setup as your car. Even if it's not, you can simply buy a conversion harness that will make the swap easier...

Yep, no problem. Pretty much any B-series engine is going to be an easy, bolt-in swap with the proper mounts...

B18C you mean?

I don't believe there is such a thing as a B16C.

You are RIGHT, :) I am indeed wrong I meant the B18C.

I have decided to stick with just a stock engine, the D16 series, I have gotten quotes for the d16Y7(104 HP), and the D16Y8(127HP-VTEC) is roughly $500 more

I would love to have a little more HP but not sure if it is worth it. Would love some thoughts on the two engines.
