That Guy....
I have a D16a6, in a 1990 Hatch Si. I was going about 115, and then the tack starter to drop. Now i can get the car to trun over fine, but it will not start. It some tims will start for a brief moment, but immedeatly die. I have changet the plugs, wires, fixed the timing, checked for fuel pressure. I have taken out the injectors, and cleaned them as best that i could. I am going to put them back in tonight. Next i plan to see if it is the fuel pump by having a friend trun the car on acc. while i listen by the fuel door. After those two things i have no idea what to do. I have looked at the ECU when i turn the car on innitaly, but it only flashes once (letting me know it is on) so im not sure where to go. There is no check engine light on or anything so... If you have any ideas please let me know..

It turns over, it gets spark, and it had fuel pressure. (I released the fuel pressure valve and it went pssst. so assumingly id does i need to check pump...it is on the list. after i put the injectors back in. There was still fuel in the fuel rail so im not sure where to go from there.

well if your gettin spark and you have fuel to the fuel rail then theres really no reason why it shudnt start but the only thing is prob the fuel pump and you should have a place behind the front seats in the middle of the car to get to it and take a tester to the clip and see if its gettin power before you drop the tank to put a new pump in and if its gettin power then it has to be the pump or the main relay cuz that went for mine one time i was driving fine i drove to work and lunch but after lunch i went to go start it to have the mechanic check the timing and it wouldnt start and it was the relay so check that too

This might be a shot in the dark but it could be electrical.....Try running a wire from the B/Y on the distributor to the hot wire in the engine bay fuse box, where the small positve wire connects. Then see if it starts up and stays running. Vibrations from running could be shaking your ignition harness around and breaking current.

how did you verify spark? the reason i ask is because honda distributors suck... a burnt distributor will cause all your symptoms, you should check that first. trust me, i'm only on my third honda, but seventh distributor.....

i put a little bit of gas in the cylinders....and put new plugs, and wires, it started up for a little bit then shut off. but there was fuel in the fuel rail, and the fuel pressure valve HAD pressure when i went to check it (it went psssht) so im assuming pressure right....

You should hear the main relay come on when u turn it to the key on position(it will click).after that u should be able to hear the fuel pump prime the fuel rail. also i have never had to drop the fuel tank in an ef to replace/check the fuel pump sevenhillsbilly. You can get to it from under the back seat.Check to see if the bag filter inside the tank is clogged
just sound like a fuel problem cause if u put gas in the cylinders and it started then ur starving for fuel. And if ur fuel pump is working correctly then replace the fuel filter located on the fire wall in the engine bay.

welli have a differnt gas tank for my car there greek and i have to but if there is fuel to the rail it may be an injector problem or a resistor box problem?

well did it squirt fuel?
yah after i pur the fuel rail back on it spreyed fuel (i didnt put the rail on thght enough) everywhere. when i went to tighten it i noticed that the bolt that stud up fromt the many. was broken off. now i have a whole nother problem. do i need to replace the whole many. or can i replace the individual bolt....i will try to get pictures up of what i am talking about..

what he said + if the igniter in your distributor is going bad you will have intermittent spark til it dies competely

oh yeah, also try the troubleshooting chart in your helms manual, if you dont have one, make getting one step one.

that thing in your hand?, yes that is your rotor and it needs to be screwed into the distributor shaft, that is what tells your plug when to spark.

if it moves, that will make it impossible to set your timing. cap and rotor are cheap from honda, make sure you get the screw for the rotor also.

sweet i got the rotor back on and all back together...but now i need that manifold to be fixed....

yay car fixed thanks for all your help....it was the believe it or not the alarm that was in "Safe" mode it wouldnt start because it thought it was stolen. i disconected the positive from the battery to put in my stero.....so i just cliped the wire from the starter going in to the alarm and out to the wiring harnes. so now it starts and drives fine.....YAY thanks again now time to sell
