Yes, that is my real name
Hey yall,

just got my f22a(automatic) tranny in today - and I was comparing it to my old f23a tranny - it has a few notable differences and i need help on tackling them.

First thing i noticed was the shift linkage - the mechanisim and location are completely different on these trannies and I am clueless as how to approach this.
F23 is on the back underside and pulls the gears and is on a spring for when you down shift - but the F22 looks almost like a throttle cable its weird, and its on the top left of the tranny.

also alot of the connectors look different . some of the solenoids that were controlled seperately now have combined controlls- this worries me.

I could switch the old solenoids in but this again worries me because my current tranny(f23) is malfunctioning and im not all sure why and its burning tranny fluid.

Also it didnt come with a Torque converter - again I can use my old one but again with the burnt tranny fluid i am scared to use it on my new tranny.

i just dont know where to start - all of your expertiese is welcome.

it is set up in the same way as a throttle cable is. just not sure on the procedure to hookup a new cable- asically i am assuming i need some new cable and some cable sleeving, and i probably run it from the tranny to the center console

f23 linkage - its the cable that crosses under the sensor in the CAT

where is connects to tranny - sorry so blurry

if what he said about the shift linkage being in the back that is one less problem to worry about , im super happy about that lol .

what in the world is a kickdown lever lol?

you got me, im manual. i might have something to do with shifting the passing gear and going back when you lay off the throtle... thats just a guess dont quote me on that, im really curiuos to how the solinoids are going to hook up...so ill be watching to. the neighbor i was talkin about hasnt been round the last few days...

from what i gather on googling it it has to do with adjusting when it shift in rpm range, lol i was close haha

weird thats all I have to say - i dont even know how that would hook up lol

OH i found where the linkage goes - we are okay there

sweet... besure to drop some pics as ur installin... im very interested in the installment and im sure youd get good rep for it...

did you unplug it just to see if the prongs are the same? this is wierd cuz i was told all f/h series would just hook right up, from many diffrent sources...is the car lsd?, can you see a vin or model number on the f22 tranny?

yes - i think im going to take it off and try to put it on the other- think you could score me a pic of an f23 tranny similar to the one i had of the f22? i cant seem to find one anywhere. want to double check a few things since im not at my car.

my friend says the kickdown lever doesnt need to be hooked up - and i think the VSS doesn't need to be either- i think thats for manny only. not sure though.
